Prospect Community by Mrs. Broadus McGinnis Harvest Day was celebrated at Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday morning with good attendance. An offering of $2,000 was taken. Rev.'E.B. Hicks of Shelby delivered the message tor the occasion and lunch was served on the grounds. * ♦ The Baptist Young Women’s group met at the home of Mrs. Ed Beason on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. ** Mrs. Thelma Beason spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jolley of Marion. * + Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Harris of Charlotte visited Mr. and Mrs. B. Lovelace spent Thursday in Chimney Rock in celebration of Mrs. Lovelace’s birthday. ^^Congratulations to Mrs. Guy Gillespie who won several ribbons for her entries of cakes, cup cakes, jellies and perserves at the Cleveland County Fair. * * Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Yount went to Statesville on Sunday where Rev. Yount delivered the service for a homecoming service. The church was where Rev. Yount supplied before returning to Gardner-Webb. Mr. and Mrs, Marion Scruggs attended the annual picnic for the employees and their femilies ,at the Haynes Plant. Pleasant Community by Betty Blanton David Jolley, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.G. Jolley, has been included in the 1980-81 Who’s Who among American High School Students. He is presently attending UNC Green sboro where he has a radio program of Contemporary Gospel Music. The Plato Hamrick family reunion was held last Sunday at the Suttle Building. There were many out-of-town guests for this reunion. All members of the family of the late Ralph Hamrick and Mrs. Gertrude Hamrick Queen were present. The first Beaver Dam Craft Fair was a tremendous success. Profits amounted to $2560.00, with small amounts still coming in. All proceeds go to the building fund. Many people deserve sincere thanks for this success, ♦ * Fourteen adults from Beaver Dam Church attended re vival services on Monday evening at Morris Memorial Baptist Church to hear Rev, J.F. Akers, HO-year-old minister. * * A love offering amounting to $115 was taken Sunday morning at Beaver Dam Church to assist in the construction of a room and facilities for Ricky LePage. ♦* The ladies of Beaver Dam Church are now collecting recipes for a new cookbook. Many of the more popular recipes from the old book will be included as well as many new ones. ♦ ♦ Rev. and Mrs. Allen Welborn and Eric of Trinity visited overnight on Thursday with Mr, and Mrs. Jim Walker and family. The Walkers also had as their dinner guests on Thursday evening, Mr, and Mrs. Buren Hamrick, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hamrick, Graig and Kevin, Mrs. Jimmy Hamrick, Tammy and Rodney. Also visiting was SHaron Hammett, a student at ASU during the weekend. The Walkers attended the Covington Reunion on Saturday evening at the Camp Call Masonia Lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Blanton and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Sarratt attended worship services on Sunday at Elizabeth Church, Shelby. They went especially for the Deacons Ordination Service at which time the Blanton’s son Harold, was ordained as a Deacon. Following the services, they all enjoyed lunch with the Harold Blantons at their home in Shelby. * * The children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a lew friends of Mr. and Mrs. Buren Hamrick enjoyed a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Hamrick on Sunday evening. The occasion was in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hamrick’s birthdays. Special guests were Mrs. Gene Watterson, Dana Brooks, Richard Jones, Randy Webb, all of Shelby, and Gerald White of Boiling Springs. + + Guests of the Steve Goodes during the week were Mrs. Faye Street and Amy, Mrs, Pat Terry, Mrs.Sandy Alexander, and Christy. Mrs. Goode and Andy visited with her grand mother, Mrs. Curtis Anthony of Boiling Springs on Wed nesday then on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Goode, Amber and Andy visited with Mr. and Mrs. Randy Raynor, Jason and Annette, and Mrs. La Von Thornburg of Ohio who Was visiting in the Raynor home. Mrs. Thornburg is a grestaunt of Mrs. Goode. * * The lovely arrangement of tall flowers gracing the sanctuary table on Sunday was given in honor of the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Shull Whitaker by their daughter, Mrs. Joe Davison and Mrs. William Dellinger. group of frogs is known as an army. This week, Oct. 4-llth, is the Week of Prayer for State Missions. On Wednesday night the pastor,Rev. Ed Sessoms, will deliver a special study on State Missions. The Youth Choir met Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. for reorganization. *♦ Oct. 11 has been set aside tor World Hunger Day. Saturday, Oct. 24th, a Harvest Day Sale will be held at the church in the fellowship building. Homemade items such as pillows, quilts and canned foods will be sold along with baked items. ♦ ♦ On Sunday, Oct. 25, Old Fashioned Day will be observed by honoring the Senior Citizens and dressing in the old fashioned clothes, hats, overalls and etc, *♦ Roy Pruett and Everette Ledbetter went deer hunting in Lockhard, S.C. recently. * * Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Scruggs and Karen spent a long weekend at Myrtle Beach, S.C. * * The Burrell W.
