Pleasant, Prospect, and Trinity. Boiling Springs Community by Louise Moore Mr. and Mrs, Steve Daves spent the weekend in Durham. They went especially to attend the wedding of a nephew there on Saturday. ** Charles White, John Glenn, Willie Hamrick, Terry Season and Sam Putnam spent the weekend at Carolina Beach on a fishing trip. According to reports, Sam caught the biggest fish. * * Mrs. Brenda Davis, Mrs. Betty Taylor and Mrs. O.Z. Davis spent the weekend at Sufside Beach, S.C, While there, Brenda and Betty visited their sister, Mrs. George Farrell and family, kfrs. Taylor and her husband, Buddy, and son, Mark, have recently moved back here from Highland, N.C. They plan to build a home in Heritage Acres in the near future. **\ Hafvey Davis and son, Sam, Buddy Taylor and son, Mark, and Terry Bowman spent the weekend at Santee Cooper on a fishing trip. *♦ Emmit Scruggs was honored with a birthday dinner for his 11th birthday Sunday at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Horace Scruggs. Emmit’s mother, Mrs. Hal Scruggs, honored him with a birthday party Sunday afternoon in the park at Cliffside. Co-hoste^s were Mr. and Mrs. Hal B. Greene, Mrs. Horace Scruggs and Mrs, Ela-ii Scruggs. A large crowd of Emmit’s friends were there to help celebrate the occasion. ♦ * Mr, and Mrs. Hershel Greene from Shelby and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McCraw from Gaffney, S.C. visited with Mrs. Mt. Pleasant Community by Betty Blanton World Day of Prayer for the Sandy Run Association was held at Corinth Baptist Church on Monday evening. Mrs, Ronald McSwain was in charge of a very interesting program including the special music was brought by Larry Hicks accompanied by Mrs. Hicks of Mt, Pleasant. Those attending other than those mentioned were Mrs, Charles Hamrick, Mrs, Ida Simmons, Mrs. Shull Whitaker, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Jolley and Mr. and Mrs. Ranny Blanton. ♦ ♦ Baptist Women met on Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs, Mae Henson. Mrs. Ranny Blanton preclded over the business session. Mrs. Ethel Ray brought the Mission Action Projects for the group to approve. Several pro jects were accepted f*r the menth of November and Dec ember. Mrs. Blanton and Mrs. Shull Whitaker had charge of the program that Mrs. Ronald McSwaIn had arranged. Mrs. Marry L, Whitaker and Mrs. Donna Henson were present as visitors and added much to the discussion. Mrs. Henson served a very tasty dessert plate during the social period that followed the meeting. ** Garland and Mary Jo Jolley celebrated their wedding anniversary on Tuesday. They took each other out to eat. We hope they have manymore happy days together. ** Comblnging business and pleasure enticed the Mike States to spend sometime In Hillsdall, New Jork where they visited the Sir William Anges Farm and Indiana, Penn, where they visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Don States enroute home, «* Mrs. Cleo Wallace visited with her sister. Miss Irene Pritchard at the Edgewood Nursing Home In Splndale on Tuesday and was the overnight guest of another sister, Mrs. Daisy Daggerhart and they spent from Wednesday through Friday with another sister, Mrs, John Marsh In Travelers Rest, S.C. ** Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones and Kevin and Renee Jackson Beaver Dam Community by Paul Sorrells Guest music director Sunday morning at Beaver Dam was Connie Long. * * David Dain had a short hospitalization in Wisconsin this week where he was visiting his grandparents. He hopes to be back in the community this weekend. ♦ * Congratulations to Olin and Ellie Lee who celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last week. ♦ * Last Sunday the church approved an ambitious plan to borrow against invested funds to avoid high interest rates on construction of the new building. ♦ ♦ Michael Weaver, infant son of Dennis and Susan Weaver, underwent surgery on Wednesday at Cleveland Memorial. ♦ * The annual Poteat reunion was held at the Suttle Building last Sunday. Approximately 55 people were present. ♦ * The children and youth from our church went skating at Kates in Shelby on Monday night. * * The senior citizens enjoyed a bountiful meal and good fellowship on Tuesday of this week at the Suttle Building. Among our visitors last Sunday at Beaver Dam was Alan Woods from Taylors, S.C. Alan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Woods. Also, Todd Weast, great-grandson of Mrs. Maggie Bridges. ♦ * The women of the church are planning chicken pie supper on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Prices will be $3.50 for adults and $1,75 for children 12 and under. Mrs. Max Philbeck, Smathia and Jennifer Waldrap of Shelby and Mrs. Roy White and girls of Kings Mountain visited Mrs. Julia McSwain Sunday afternoon, ♦ ♦ Mrs. Katy Ruth Dixon and Mrs. Bonnie Price attended the Baptist State Convention in Greensboro last week. ** Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tessneer from Kings Mountain visited Mr. and Mrs. Fay Crowe Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs, Malcum McAlister from Dallas visited with Rev. and Mrs. James McAlister Monday. Mr. Nicus Hicks, brother of Charles and John Hicks, and Mrs. Jack Dawson is a patient in St. Mar^s Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn, He suffered a stroke severay days ago. ** Overnight guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs Jack Dawson were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Houser of Florence, S.C. We congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Houser in the birth of their son, Joshus Vaughn at Cleveland Memorial Hospital on Saturday. Joshua has an older sister, Ashley. We want to express our deepest sympathy to Mr, Karl Jordon, Sr. in the death of his brother, Mr. Robert Jordan in Canton, Texas. Mr, Jordan flew to Canton for the funeral on Tuesday and will remain a few days with other family members. ** Mr. Cfrover Hawkins entered Spartanburg General Hospital for more surgery and tests on Monday. Hamrick has been visiting in the community with his family since his hospital stay last week at Cleveland Memorial but has returned to Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home where he is a resident. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Blanton, and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Surratt were visitors in Hender sonville Sunday afternoon. The Deacon’s meeting was held Sunday at 2 p.m. The WMU Council met Weciiesday at 6 p.m. and the Brother hood and R.A.’s had a hot dog supper Wednesday night at 6 p.m. There was a guest entertainer. Miss Brenda and Friends Pupet Show. * * Family night was Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rev. and Mrs. Ed Sessom and Mr. and Mrs, Ralph Harrill attended the Baptist State Convention in Cfreensboro. * * Mrs, John Gibson and Stacie of Virginia are spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs, Irvin Scruggs and Karen while her husband is in California and Texas on a business trip. * * Mr. and Mrs. G.G. Ledbetter spent a long weekend in N^hville, Tenn. on a tour and while there went to Opryland. Mr. and Mrs. Giavis Wacaster spent Sunday in Burns ville with Mr. and Mrs. Frank McFaden. They went especially for the dedication of two of their grandchildren, Katina and Jerry Jones, children of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Jones. Mr. John Bland has moved from Beam’s Nursing Home in Shelby to Rutherfordton Convalescent Center. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ellis who married recently have moved into this community. Connor home with her. * * Ralph Blanton’s Sunday School Class and their wives attended a supper at Lake Wylie Saturday at the Ledbetter’s place, *♦ Mrs. Gus Gregory and Mr. and Mrs. James Long spent Thursday in New London with Mr, and Mrs. William Howlngton. Mrs, Howington had been a patient at Alber- marle Hospital. ♦ ♦ Mrs, Mutt Humphries is a patient at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. Mr. Marvin Byars is a patient at Crawley Memorial Hospital. Trinity Community by Doris Scruggs The Rev. and Mrs. Tim Phillips and Timmie joined Trinity Baptist Church by letter on Sunday morning during the worship service. The Phillips family are former members of Startown Baptist Church in Startown. Rev. Tim Phillips is a student at Gardner-Webb College study ing for the ministry. ♦ ♦ The Baptist Women’s Group met at the home of Mrs, Kenneth Dobbins on Housers Lake Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. with good attendance. Christain sympathy is extended to the Tim Ward family. Tim was kUled in a car accident on Thursday afternoon. He was married to the former Lu Ann Brcdges of this community and the couple lived in Polkville. Services were held at the Lily Baptist Church on Sunday, ♦ * Mr, and Mrs. Guy Gillespie and Mrs. Harold Bishop took Mr. Gillespie to the doctor in Charlotte on Friday for a checkup. * * Miss Donna English of Cfreenville, S.C. spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don English, Lisa and Ruse. ** Guests visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.A, Lovelace last week were Mrs. Daisy Wilson of Six Points and Mrs. Mae Blackwood and Mrs. Joanna Kale of Shelby. Mrs, Marshall Byars and Junior Ruff continue to be patients at Spartanburg General Hospital in Spartanburg.
