Page 4, Foothills View, June 10,1982 Mt. Pleasant Community by Betty Blanton The Baptist Women met at the home of Mrs. Ethel Ray jon Tuesday evening. Mission Action Projects were discussed and decided upon. The group was encourged to read and study the “Royal Service” more. Mrs. Ronald McSwain gave an interesting program on “Religions of West Africa” at the close of which Mrs. Ray served delicious refreshments to the group. Scott Bass arrived on Friday to be the Youth Director for ten weeks this summer at Mt. Pleasant. He is a student at Campbell University and the church is looking forward to his working with all the group. Scott will be living at the Jim Walker home. Those in the hospital at this writing are Mrs. Vanda Ramsey and Mr. Grove Hawkins who are both patients at Crawley Memorial. Vacation Bible School is being held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. this week with ages from 3 to 80 enrolled. Mrs. Ronald McSwain is director and commencement will be held Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Davis- Houser Lake was the setting Sunday evening for the worship service beginning with a cookout enjoyed by the group attending. Mrs. Bobby Headley led the singing of the hymns and Rev. Ronald McSwain brought a b reif message to close the service. Mr. and Mrs. Shull Whitaker attended graduation exercises at the Malcolm Brown Auditorium in Shelby on Friday evening. Their granddaughter, Jane Davison, was a member of the class. Kaiser Esther McSwain celebrated her 13th birthday over the weekend by having several of her friends for a pajama party on Friday night. The girls had lots of fun and enjoyed the time together. Then on Sunday, Esthe and her family enjoyed her bir thday by having a family dinner at their home with cake and all the trimmings. Among those a the beach at this writing are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ramsey, Ray and Tim Ramsey, David Jolley, and Craig Hamrick. Carole Jolley and a friend from Greenville, S.C. are spending this week at Pawley’s Island. Miss Davis Those enjoying the Phil Toney Tour ove the weekend to Florida were Mrs. Richard Alexander, Mrs. Jennifer Allen and Kristi, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Blanton, Mr. and Mrs. John Hicks, Catherine and Elizabeth, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Padgestt, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Sarratt and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Scruggs. The group toured St. Augustine, Disneyland and Daytona Beach. They report having an excellent time and seeing lots. Dr. and Mrs. J. Karl Jordan, Jr. spent the weekend with her brother. Gene Mintz, in North Augusta, S.C. They report having lots of fun, We express community sympathy to Mrs. Cleo Wallace in the death of her daughter, Mrs. “Coopie” Greene. Sarah Ann Davis and Bradley Vix Kaiser plan to be married August 21 at Lavonia Baptist Church. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis, the bride-elect is a graduate of Crest High School and Cleveland Tech and is presently employed as in surance clerk at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. The prospective bride-groom is the son of Mrs. Patricia Manning and Mr. Russell E. Kaisr, Jr. of Centralia, Missouri. He is a graduate of Central High School and is presently a U.S. Navy Elecronic Technician on board the USS John C. Calhoun.
