Pleasant Comm unity By Betty Blanton Shari Gay came home with the Ledbetter’s to be here a week before rejoining her mother in New York for a return flight home to Puerto Rico. The youth of First Baptist Church in Spindale presented a musical program at the Sunday evening service. Robert, and Denise Hunter are leaders of the group. Sidney Tanner is director and Shelly Rushing is accompanist. They also had two puppet skits. A mini-field day The Baptist Women met Tuesday evening with Mrs. Mae Hinson. Mrs. Ronald McSwain gave a very interesting program on Baptist work in Korea. She had a delightful selection of pictures, jewelry, shoes and other items that Rev. McSwain brought her when he returned from a ministry mission to Korea. She also modeled a dress that one of the Korean women had given her husband especially for Mrs. McSwain. On Saturday, Mrs. Wallace visited with another sister. Miss Irene Pritchard at the Edgewood Nursing Home in Spindale. Camping at Safari Campground proved to be en joyable for Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walker, Thomas, Tim, Larry Hammett, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pruett and Lisa over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Shull Whitaker were Sunday guests of their daughter, Mrs. Joe Davison and family in Shelby. On their return home, they visited the J.D. Caegles of Hendersonville. Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Burns and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ledbetter and Christie Blanton of Spartanburg, S.C. were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Olen Ledbetter Sunday. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Horace Willis in the death of his father, and to Mrs. Melvin Wyatt in the death of her sister. Larry Ledbetter flew to New York Friday to take Shari-Gay back to meet her mother, Mrs. Arvilda Ledbetter. Arvilda and Shari returned to their home in Puerto Rico. Adult vaction bible school will be September 27 through October 1 with Rev. Sessom teaching. Rev. and Mrs. Danny Benfield and family were guests Mrs. Ethel Ray offered suggestions for mission actions and the group will soon begin making preparations for the project. Mrs. Ida Sim mons had charge of the prayer calen dar. Mrs. Hinson served delicious refreshments during the social period. The Sunshine Club met Wed nesday morning. Mrs. Ethel Ray presided over the business sessions and plans were made for future meetings. Mrs. Shull Whitaker read the minutes for the previous meeting and then the group went to Jacksons in Shelby for a delicious meal together. Among those attending weddings in Kings Mountain Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Blanton and Mr. and Mrs. Buren Hamrick who at tended the wedding of Ronney Blanton and Mary Hullender at the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Among those attending the Thomas and Julia H. Lovelace reunion at Oak Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Kings Mountain were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Blanton and Mr. and Mrs. Ranny Blanton. Mr. and Mrs. Ranny Blanton attended the wedding of Lisa Hord and Scott Batchler at First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Immediately following the reunion, the Clyde Blantons visited their grand- daughter Tammie Roper and Ranny Blanton’s mother, Mrs. Lizzie Blanton at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Buren Blanton in Kings Mountain. An overnight guest of Mrs. Cleo Wallace on Wed nesday was her sister, Mrs. Daisy Daggerhart of Spindale. They spent Thursday shopping in Gaffney and Shelby. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weaver spent the past two weeks touring the north central part of the country including Richmond, Washington, Pitt sburg, Cleveland, Michigan, Min neapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. They also traveled to Big Lake to visit Mr. and Mrs. David Andrews, a niece of the Weavers. Their tour inlcuded trips to Iowa, Kansas City and to St. Louis to visit Mrs. W.F. Poteat, a sister of Mrs. Weaver. Additional sites of interest were trips through the zoo at St. Louis, a tour of Church Dawnes in Louisville, Ken tucky then on to Charleston and back through Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Weaver, son and daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weaver, went with them on their trip. The Harold Weaver’s live in Hopewell, Virginia.
