Grease 2 large baking sheets. Place on wire racks. In heavy
l'/2-quart saucepan stir together sugar, corn syrup and water.
Stirring constantly, bring to boil over medium heat. Cook with
out stirring until temperature reaches 300°F on candy thermom
eter, or until syrup when dropped into cold water forms threads
which are hard and brittle. Stir in peanut butter until well
blended. Remove from heat. Quickly but gently stir in baking
soda. Immediately pour onto baking sheets; do not spread. Cool
3 to 5 minutes or just until cool enough to handle; take the candy
by the edges, and lifting it slightly, pull as thin as possible.
Cool. Break into irregular pieces. Store in tightly covered con
tainer. Makes about I'A pounds.

Dear Dr. Graham: I am in a difficult marriage
and thinking of divorce. Do you think this is wrong
today, especially since divorce is so widely ac

DEAR MRS. H.G.D.: I hope you will do
everything you possibly can not only to keep your
marriage intact, but to make it the source of
happiness and peace that God intends it to be. 1
know it is common today for people to jump out of
a marriage when things get rough or the initial
romantic feelings begin to fade. But that is not
right, as the Bible makes clear, and futhermore 1
am convinced that many, many marriages could
be restored to happiness if they would make the
effort with God’s help.
What should you do? First of all, you need to
commit every aspect of your life to God - not only
your marriage but everything else as well. Ask
Christ to come into your heart and cleanse you
from sin, and then ask him to control your life and
have his perfect will in you. Especially agk him to
help you so you can be free from the selfishness
that makes it difficult for you to love as you should.
Pray also for your husband, that he will come to
Christ and that together you can grow closer to
God - and to each other.
Then ask God to help you take practical steps to
be the best wife you can possibly be. Look
carefully at what the Bible tells us about love;
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it
does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is
not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps
no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth. It always protects,
always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres’’
(1 Corinthians 13:4-7).
