Scott Bass, Youth Director, was here to spend his week-end working with the children and young people, He reported they were few in numbers but the quality of their accomplishments were great. Therefore, he felt that their time together was well spent. The Howard Jones of Dallas spent Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jolley. They enjoyed being together for the day. “Hearts For You” was the theme of the Banquet held in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday evening. The Banquet Commit tee composed of Joyce States, Margaret Hicks, Jan Houser, Katie Hamrick, Terri and Bobby Headley and Betsy McSwain had created a setting of hearts and other V alentine decorations for the program. Scott Bass gave heartfelt thanks for the meal and then everyone participated in the hearty meal of barbecue with all the trimmings after which Mrs. Ronald McSwain welcomed hearts and introduced the guests. Rev. Russell Fitts, pastor of Zion Baptist Church gave a humorous speech ending with a devotional thought. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Headley led the group in the singing of old familiar love songs. The HUB Sorority gave a skit entitled “Broken Hearts.” This Sorority consisted of five males, Larry Flicks, John Hamrick, Bobby Headley, Lance Houser, and Michael States all dressed as ladies and having one purpose trying to find a husband. These men did a very fine job in look ing for a husband. Sunday morning the church observed Baptist Men and Women Day. The following took part in the program for morning. Mrs. Ronald McS wain, Charles Hamrick, Joe and Jan Houser, P.G. Jolley, Joyce States, Ida Simmons, Lance Houser, John Hamrick, Ethel Ray and Bob Hamrick. A choir composed of men and women brought the Special Music after which the pastor brought the message. Bob Hamrick pro nounced the benediction. The William Dellingers of Statesville visited with Mr. and Mrs. Shull Whitaker on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jones, Eric and Nathan visited with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jolley on Sunday. The Buren Jolleys visited with Jonny Jenkins and Angie in their new home in Boiling Springs on Sunday. They were also joined by the Jewell Allreds of Caroleen at the Jenkins home in Boiling Springs. A very tasty meal was served to the Choral ensemble of Gardner-Webb College who gave a very inspiring program on Sunday evening during the wor ship hour. The Adult Choir prepared and served the meal to the Ensemble members. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Blanton, Mr. and Mrs. Ranny Blanton at tended the funeral service for their uncle Alonzo Lovelace in Bowling Green, South Carolina on Sunday afternoon. The lovely flowers adorning the sanctuary on Sunday were given in memory of Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Athinson by Mr. and Mrs. Gene Stancil and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Philbeck.
