By Betty The Better Homes Club held their. regular meeting on Tues day evening in the Fellowship Hall with a good group present to enjoy the Covered Dish Sup per and Fellowship. Mrs. Jimmy Hamrick and Mrs. Jim Walker served as hostesses and had made preparations for the meeting. After the delicious meal, Aletta Hamrick, Joe and Jan Houser, and Betsy McSwain gave a very interesting program on the class they are attending on “Effective Parenting.” Joyce and Randy Mull were present as new members. Sunshine Club members at tended the concert by ‘The Sing ing Churchmen” on Tuesday morning in the Convocation Center at Gardner-Webb Col lege. Allen Jolley, a former Music Director at Mount Plea sant is a member of this group.. The members of the club went to Jackson’s Cafeteria in Shelby for a delicious lunch. Attending the W.M.U. Associational Meeting at Bethel Baptist Church in EUenboro on Thursday evening were Mrs. Mae Henson, Mrs. Garland Jolley, Mrs. Ronald McSwain, Blanton Mrs. Ethel Ray, Mrs. Ida Sim mons and Mrs. Shull Whitaker. The ladies enjoyed the delicious supper and the program follow ing the supper very much. Baptist men held their regular meeting on Saturday evening. P.G. Jolley served a very good supper to the men attending after which L.ance Houser gave a very interesting program. Mrs. Sarah Webb, Mrs. Ida Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dawson visited Mr. Grover Hawkins at the Haven N Hills Rest Home in Bostic where he is a resident on Sunday afternoon. They found “Mr. Grover” not as well physically but in still mighty good spirit. Mrs. Cleo Wallace reports that her two sisters Mrs. Daisy Daggerhart and Miss Irene Prit chard, both of Spindale were both improved when she visited them recently. The Lewis Jolleys and their daughter, Ellen Jolley of Boiling Springs visited with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones and Lanelta Jackson in Dallas on Sunday. Lanelta is recovering nicely at home after a recent hospital stay. Prospect Community Community By Mrs. Broadus McGinnis By Louise Moore By Ruby C. Ledbetter The “Images” presented their musical program Sunday night entitled ‘There’s Just Something About That Name” compiled and directed by Lodell Shields and accompanied by Sylvia Brooks. The morning quilting group met Monday morning in the fellowship building to quilt. Sunday, May 8th through Wednesday, May 11th will be the Church Training Study Course. There will be classes for all ages with a nursery provided Sunday night from 6 til 8:00 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday 7J)0 til 8JX) p.m. Everyone is invited. On Sunday morning. May 8th the ladies will lead the morning service for Mother’s Day. On Sunday, May 15th will be Memorial Day with lunch at noon and special singing on Sun day afternoon with ‘The Tone Master’s” as greats. On May 22nd the children grades 1-6 will present their musical “Runaway”. Mr. Fitzhue Lemmons, Caley inesette and Rev. C. W. Walker are patients at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Pruett and Mr. and Mrs. Everette have returned from a few days vaca tion at Long Beach, N.C. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson of Cooley Springs visited with Mr. and Mrs. Terry Shields and Jeremy on Sunday night, coming especially to hear the musical. Mrs. D.H. Conner was honored on her 82nd birthday Sunday with a dinner. Th^se from out of town attending were Mrs. Paul Crotts, Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Crotts and Leslie of Newton, N.C. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Goodman of Vale, N.C. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Durham Ledbetter, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Mode and Chris visited during the weekend. Sympathy is extended to the families of Max Harris in his un timely death. Miss Phyllis Cochran and Chuck Long of A.S.U. were weekend guests of their respec tive parents. Mr. and Mrs. Van Bowen of Greenville, S.C. were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Humphries and„Van. „ The annual memoriEil service will be at Prospect Baptist Church on Sunday, May 8. The public is invited. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hut chens of Charlotte spent the weekend with Mrs. Gazzie Har mon. Joe Jolley of Columbia, S.C., spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Jolley. Lane Jolley and his girlfriend from Clemson visited on Saturday with Louise Jolley. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Barnes visited on Tuesday night with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Norman in Rutherford County. Tim Phillips of New Pleasant spent Friday night with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob by Barnes. Mrs. Wade Harmon of Chesnee, S.C., visited on Mon day with Mrs. Annie Hames and Mrs. Eula Settles. Mrs. Adelaide Humphries of Grassy Pond had supper on Sun day with Mrs. Broadus McGin nis. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hamrick, Mrs. Addie Bridges and Mae Hamrick of Kings Mountain visited her on Monday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Wood had several visitors. They included Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wood of Blacksburg, S.C., Mrs. Vernon Linder of Mayo, S.C., Hoyle Potter, Mrs. Sallie Jolley, Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Harmon and Joan, Madison and Dorothy Mc- Craw and Grudger Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Nodine and children of Sunshine, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Ruppe of Cowpens visited on Sunday with Mrs. Callie Ruppe. Mr. and Mrs. James Price visited on Sunday with Mrs. Thomas Price. Mrs. Wonnie Jones and Mrs. James Price visited their sister during the weekend. Madison McCraw and sisters had visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Holland of Forest City visited Miss Etna Holland on Sunday afternoon. Community sympathy is ex pressed to the family in the re cent death of Mr. Max Harris. The Greene family held an an nual reunion on Sunday at the home of Mr. Amos Greene of Maine Street. Auiit Harriet always swore M gp to the dogs. M om always wanted me to be a doctor. Dad didn’t much care, as long as I amounted to something. But Aunt Harriet was convinced I would come to a bad end. I finally hung out my shingle today: John Petrie, doctor of veterinary medicine. I could tell Dad was proud, and Mom was really beaming. And even Aunt Harriet got a little misty around the eyes. After all—she’s the one who predicted I was going straight to the dogs!
