Lee underwent an operation on Wed nesday and since that time has been in a sinking condition. On Friday af ternoon his state was such that sur geons decided that only the obtaining of a supply of blood by transfusion could give him a chance to recover. Since nearly all the detachment men were on the hall field where a game was on with the Motor Mechanics the call for volunteers to give of their blood was sounded there. Lawler was first to call out, “Here, sir.’’ Others who responded at once were Sergeants Jorgenson and Walters and Privates Moyer and Reikel. Lawler was taken and nearly a pint and a half of blood was taken from his body in order to quicken the circu lation in Lee’s system. lAwler feels no evil effects. He is receiving the marks of respect due him. WAR BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER. “Are you Btaimett?” “Yes ’’ “I’m Carl.” And so Carl Haley, a base hospital No. 54 man, who is employed in the hospital detachment office, met his brother whom he had not seen for fif teen years. The brother is with 680 Aerial Supply division down in the lower part of Camp Greene. When Carl heard that several com panies of Texas men were being mov ed to Camp Greene he made inquiries down in the camp because his mother had written that his brother, who hasj been In the West tor fifteen years, was with a Texas supply troop. So Carl found Emmet and there was a Joy ous reunion.
