Saturday afternoon several of the nurses enjoyed a delightful out- ^htnp Latta, the summer camp or the Y. W. C. A. at Rhyne. We all went swimming, no, not in the Rhine, ut in a river or was it merely a mud hole? Anyway, the water was fine and 0 are anticipating going again soon. Non-members of the Y. W. C. Horse back riding is becoming a facinating past time for the base hos pital nurses. More and more of those who spend their working hours in the wards are taking to the saddle when their tour is ended. Miss Jones, a nurse, is shown in the above picture seated on a large black charger. THE MAJOR’S LITTLE SHADOW. Word has been received of the safe arrival of Nurses Driscoll, Anderson, Haley, Manheim and Warner in France. They were at the base hos pital for several weeks before being called for oversea duty. They left Camp Greene three weeks ago. Why the tears—tall, good-looking blonde nurse with the shell rim glass es, surely the Chief did not scold you for the broken board walk in from of the nurses’ home? Why didn’t you explain that you had hardly recovered from your horse back ride and were still unsteady in the knees We are all delighted to find that Miss Warwick’s patriotism brings her back from Greenville although .-1 e still has that far away look. A certain Major had a Shadow, As shadowy as could be. And everywhere the Major went The shadow you would see. It followed him to clinic one day A natural thing to do But we always wondered what hap pened For next time—It stayed away. IT WAS OBVIOUS. X—Did you know that Lieutenant had been made captain? Y—Why, no—You must be mistaken. I did not see two bars on his collar. X—You looked in the wrong place. He was wearing them on his face. The operating room nurses arc In terested in knowing why it is that our assistant superintendeut who at present is taking a course in anaesthesia, is the only one who has the privilege of camouflaging her in efficiency with a sheet. CAUGHT. On South Tryon street—Afternoon— Pattie and Drizie talking to two gold- barred officers. What does it mean? The world is all right once more. Drizie was seen talking to a -T. Ser geant. How many of the nurses have no ticed the splendid collection of books in the Community Room of the new horfie? They are really worthy of your inspection. Last Thursday the Casual Camp en tertained many of the nurses at an out-door dancing party. All who went had a most enjoyable evening. Miss Pigg left the last of the week on her vacation. Somebody has knowledge of the ex istence of the Y. W. C. A. summer camp “somewhere in N C.” but does not know its location. Will some of the nurses kindly volunteer the infor mation? Wish some of the J iotor Mechanics would come over and finish the con struction of our band-stand.
