Unlike most army offi cers, Colonel Macomb graduated from Annapolfe instead of West Point, but was soon afterwards transferred to the army. He wears on his breast bars representing five campaigns. He was in the campaigns against the Crow Indians in 1877 and in that against the Ute and Cheyenne Indians in 1879. He served in Porto Rico in the Spanish-, American war and was in the Phil ippines from 1901 to 1903. He was with Pershing in Mexico in 1916. Colonel Macomb was a member of the military court which tried the ne gro troops that engaged in the famous riot at Houston, Texas, when eleven of the principals were hanged and a number, of others sentenced to life im prisonment. Colonel Macomb’s father was an army officer. Colonel John Macomb of the United States engineers. He is a descendant of John Livingston, sign er of the declaration of independence. Colonel Macomb has three sons in the service, one in the navy and two in the army. GOES NORTH. Edward H; Wilson of the fatigue gang is absent on furlough to North- bridge, somewhere in Massafchusetts. It is expected that he will return at the expiration of his leave. ANOTHER TRAVELER. The serious illness of his brother necessitated the hurried departure of Andrew Bogin to his home in In diana, wheie he will endeavor to con sole the afflicted man. Cpl. J. P. Lyon of the detachment office is back in his old position again after a leave of ten days spent in his home at Bridgeport, Conn.
