CAMP Q. M. C.
PROMOTED TO MAJOR
Among the recent promotions of the
officers of the Quartermaster Corys
at Camp (ireene, that of Captain
Charles M. Miller, acting sub-depot
quartermaster to be Major, Q. M. C,
will be recognized by his many friends
both in and out of the army, as highly
deserved.
Major Miller came to Camp Greene
has displayed a wonderful knowledge
of the intricate and technical works
of the Quartermaster Corps as well as
a capacity for work and willingness
to serve, that is nothing short of
amazing.
New Oiricers Arrive
Lieutenant Vine D. Lord, formerly
detachment commander, is now in
charge of officers pay accounts in the
finance division.
Lieutenant Farrier, of the finance
division, has been transferred to Camp
Mills, N. J., and took his departure
last week.
Lieutenant John G. Duffy reported
for duty last week and has been as
signed to finance.
Lieutenant R, D. Thomas, who re
ceived his appointment recently, is in
charge of labor and is stationed in
the finance division.
Lieutenant E. C. Lane reported dur
ing the week from Camp Johnston,
Jacksonville, Fla., where he has been
stationed in the Quarmaster Corps.
He has been assigned to finance.
Lieutenant Naab, of the property
branch, is ill in the Base Hospital.
Lieutenant Goodstein is in charge
during his absence.
Lieutenant R. A. Longmore is in
charge of contracts and records, Labor,
and is police officer. He is stationed In
the administrative office of the camp
Q. M. C.
Lieutenant Hudson is wearing the
smile that won’t come oft. He was
married recently.
Lieutenant Jordan was recently
commissioned out of the detachment
and is stationed in the subsistence
branch.
Lieutenant Crapo of the utilities
branch is now on duty with the sub
depot Q. M. in Warehouse No. X.
Lieutenant Craven is now under the
influence of influenza.
Lieutenant Roy Saunders is ii'-
stationed at the transportation bran''"'
and is looking after the formation of
the new motor transport corps.

TRUCK CO. NO. 330
ORDNANCE DEPOT
Capt. Harry L. Shaner of the util
ities branch has been appointed to
take charge of the camp engineering.
He was formerly city engineer of
Lynching, Va. He has two brothers
In the service, both of whom are com
missioned officers.
Motor Truck Company No. 330
mourns the loss of twenty-six men,
nineteen of which helped to form the
old company at Minneapolis, Minn.
We wish them the best of luck.
Within the last few days numerous
non-sufficient officers have been the
made, a few sergeants and bushels of
corporals. Now boys, you can eat with
the men.
Sergeant Domers, alias Madam Phoo
Phoo, is thinking seriously of buying
Sergeant Nokes a face towel and a
bar of soap. The Madam says that
cleanliness is next to godliness.
Sergeant Black Jack~Prause is our
new company clerk. He thinks a
teieiihone is a great invention.
Who says that Bud Sheridan isn’t
patriotic? He has a 25-day furlough,
but he would rather serve his country
than go home.
We are sure that Sergeant Cum
mings recently promoted as Top Ser
geant will make good at his new job.
He can almost say “geese up.”
Truck drivers beware of our new
assistant truckmasters as Min An
drews is on the job at all times with
his Dodge.
Snuss Johnson is bemoaning the
quarantine. The Myers Park conduc
tors will miss you now, Tom.
The Top has an awful time .getting
away from South Tryon street about
midnight lately.
If Sergeant Billie Thul doesn’t find
some transportation pretty soon he’ll
get thin and then what will Toots
say?
No more large gatherings during the
quarantine, eh? That means no more
crap games, boys.
How is the tailor shop coming along.
Senator James?
Now that our cute little Corporal
Carnahan is with us we are full of
joy. It’s funny how his return mess
ed up the orderly room.
PROMOTED TO CAPTAINS.
1st Lieuts. Domey, Ehrenbach and
Thrasher were recently promoted to
captains. Captain Thrasher has been
called for duty overseas and left this
week.

depot are extended to Corp. Tho»-n
ton, whose brother has passed away.
Some people run in luck. Ord. Sgt.
Lipman picks Washington as the place
to spend his five days, and now he is
transferred to Camp Leach. Sounds
like mitfloppin’ Lip.
Sgt. Angeol (Shorty) Martini has
has been transferred to Camp Zachary
Taylor, Ixmisville, Ky. Here's hoping
that he has as much success with the
W. W’s in Kentucky as he had in the
Carolinas.
Florenz Ziegfield, Jr., has nothing
on Ord. Sgt. Leonard when it comes
to dressing the company.
Sgt. Donald Montagu Bates, alias
Three oard Monte, delighted in bask
ing in the sunshine of the Carolines.
Pvt. Ufland singer (The boy from
the Capital City) receives all bets on
quarantine rumors.
Ord. Sgt. Hornsby, Cpl. Merril and
Cpl. Shine have been transferred to
Raitan Ord. Depot, Metuchon, N. J.
Pvt. 1st. Class Brant is to buy a
commutation ticket to Myers Park
with the proceeds of his increase pay

It is anticipated when Uio quaran
tine is lifted, wedding bells will begin
to peal for certain members of the
company. Absence makes the heart
grow fonder. Whisky makes the breath
grow stronger.

Cpl. Myers who hails fr'un Ml Joy
(not “O Joy”) Penn., has been worry
ing lately because his home town pa
per “The Mt. Joy Sunbeam” has tem
porarily suspended publication due to
the fact that the hand press broke
down.
Second. Lt. R. Vv. Whiteside has
been transferred to Camp Lee, Va.
Second Lt. Link replaces him in
charge of the Acounts Section.

GO TO TRAINING CAMP.
Sgt. 1st Cl. Leslie J. Farmer re
ceived his orders to report to Camp
Meigs, Washington, D. C., for train
ing in the Quartermaster Offices
Training Schools.
Sergeants Mathes, Spaugh, Stewart
and Wondracheck left a few days ago
for Camp Johnston, Jacksonville, Flor
ida, where they will undergo training
in the Officers’ Training School there.
The Reclamation and Conservation
division of the Quartermaster Corps
will mess in their new mess hall from
now on. Sergeant 1st. Cl. Ben Slade
will be in charge of the detachment
Among the recent happenings in the
Quartermaster Corps, is the appoint
ment of 2nd Lieutenant Walter F.
French as detachment commander hnd
Summary court officer. Sometime ago
while he was a member of the detach
ment he was ordered to Camp Lee,
Va., to attend the offficers’ training
school there, and was commissioned
in about two weeks after his arrival.
He has served in the line and was
in the Coast Artillery for three years.
He was very popular while a member
of the detachment and continues to
enjoy the good will of the men as
their commander.
