from the army that it will take $9 to

“Y” NOTES
unite in wishing all their
friends a very happy and
prosperous New Year.
When the year 1919 rolls
into oblivion, may you be able to look''
back with pleasure on the fortunes of
a year filled with unalloyed joy and
happiness is the wish of everyone of
Brady, the joyial mountaineer and
erstwhile “moonshiner” is gone from
our midst, leaving nothing but mem
ories of his smiling visage and trite
sayings. Brady was what one might
term a Philosopher in embryo and
but for the fact that his education
had been neglected might have been
known to the world as another Solo
mon. Brady left Monday for Ray-
wick, Kentucky, his former home
where he will (so he says) again take
up the manufacture' of canned joy.
Faretheewell and may we sometime
taste of your success in your chosen
line.
Tuesday Dennis Lyons was the re
cipient of an honorable discharge
from the army and in consequence
he now wears the smile that won’t
come off. Lyons has been a patient
in this ward since October 12th, and
during his stay here has made many
friends thru his cheerful disposition
and readiness to smile. We will miss
him very much, but our loss is some-
ones gain, the someone being a happy
wife and smiling baby in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.
Newcomers within the last week
were Eugene Johnson of Hqrs. Com
pany, Recruit Camp No. 4 and James
B McCulla from the 14th company
Recruit Camp No. 4. Welcome to our
domicile and may your sojourn with
us be filled with happiness and con
tentment.
We wish to inform all of Sergeant
Nierzwicki’s friends that if they are
looking for him and cannot find him,
take a trip over to the Red Cross build
ing and by casting your eyes to the
balcony you will find him quietly in
terested in a game of chess. We hope
that he can play chess better than he
can play his Ukelele.

Soldiers who hold smileage tickets
which they do not expect to use, since
the Liberty Theatre at Camp Greene
has closed, may render a service to
their fellow soldiers by turning them
over to the Charlotte branch of the
War-Camp Community Service for
distribution among men still in service
in other cantonment or naval training
stations. At Norfolk, Virginia, it is
reported that smileage is needed for
sailors, soldiers and marines, and the
War-Camp Community Service has
been requested to assist in supplying
the need.
