McCulla resolves to get so far away from the army that it will take $9 to send him a questionaire. Mundy resolves to evermore live faithful to John Barleycorn. Seeger says that if he ever gets to a wet state that he never will be caught sober again. Young refuses to make any resolu tions as h(j says he is too (Young) to drink anyway. “Y” NOTES unite in wishing all their friends a very happy and prosperous New Year. When the year 1919 rolls into oblivion, may you be able to look'' back with pleasure on the fortunes of a year filled with unalloyed joy and happiness is the wish of everyone of Brady, the joyial mountaineer and erstwhile “moonshiner” is gone from our midst, leaving nothing but mem ories of his smiling visage and trite sayings. Brady was what one might term a Philosopher in embryo and but for the fact that his education had been neglected might have been known to the world as another Solo mon. Brady left Monday for Ray- wick, Kentucky, his former home where he will (so he says) again take up the manufacture' of canned joy. Tuesday Dennis Lyons was the re cipient of an honorable discharge from the army and in consequence he now wears the smile that won’t come off. Lyons has been a patient in this ward since October 12th, and during his stay here has made many friends thru his cheerful disposition and readiness to smile. We will miss him very much, but our loss is some- ones gain, the someone being a happy wife and smiling baby in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Newcomers within the last week were Eugene Johnson of Hqrs. Com pany, Recruit Camp No. 4 and James B McCulla from the 14th company Recruit Camp No. 4. Welcome to our domicile and may your sojourn with us be filled with happiness and con tentment. We wish to inform all of Sergeant Nierzwicki’s friends that if they are looking for him and cannot find him, take a trip over to the Red Cross build ing and by casting your eyes to the balcony you will find him quietly in terested in a game of chess. We hope that he can play chess better than he can play his Ukelele. WISE AND OTHERWISE The program for Christmas week at the hospital Y. M. C. A., was as follows: Tkoving pictures on Monday evening, the Story of Christmas on Wednesday evening; on Thursday a Christmas entertainment was held that attracted many of the hospital personnel. Songs and recitations were the chief items on the evening’s pro gram in which the “Y” men were ably assisted by the good people of the First Baptist Church of Charlotte, and to night there will be an exhibition of Christmas pictures. Secretary Martin of the hospital building is absent for a few days hav ing been ordered to accompany a troop train to Michigan. He is ex pected to return here shortly. L. C. Cornwall, educational secre tary formerly of No. 106, has been transferred to the Base Hospital Y. M. C. A. building where he se'rved some months ago. Piedmont T II E A T R E Soldiers who hold smileage tickets which they do not expect to use, since the Liberty Theatre at Camp Greene has closed, may render a service to their fellow soldiers by turning them over to the Charlotte branch of the War-Camp Community Service for distribution among men still in service in other cantonment or naval training stations. At Norfolk, Virginia, it is reported that smileage is needed for sailors, soldiers and marines, and the War-Camp Community Service has been requested to assist in supplying the need. Sgt. Files and Corp. Gavagan, res pectively of the Patient’s mess and the Detachment office, have departed for Boston, Mass., with a convalescing patient who they are conducing to his home. Sgt. 1st Class Harold B. MacNish, supply sergeant is with us again after several days on detached service, dur ing which period he visited at his home in Ansonia, Conn.
