Society Tuesday
Mrs. J. W. Fitzgerald entertained
the Missionary Society of the Meth
odist church at her home Tuesday af
ternoon. Mrs. Gurney Pittman had
charge of , the program, in the ab
sence of Mrs. Arthur Pike. After the
business session, Mrs. Fitzgerald, as
sisted by Mrs. .Aaron Fitzgerald,
served lemonade and cake to the 12
members present.

Mrs. Bunyan Creech honored her
ne.ee. Miss Virginia Woodruff, of
Norfolk, \a., who is her house guest,
Friday afternoon on her tenth birth
day.
Outdoor games were enjoyed, later
the hostess invited the guests into
the dining room where a beautiful
cake with ten candles centered the
table.
The honoree received lovely gifts,
which were opened and admired bv
all.

Smith-Johnson
Wedding In S. C.
T-5 C-pl. Clinnon Smith of Micro,
and Miss Mary Elizabeth Johnson of
Kenly, were united in marriage in
Dillon, S. C., on Monday, June 19.
Mrs. Smith is the daughter of +he
late Stephen Johnson and Mrs. John- i
son of Kenly. She .is a graduate of
Lucama High School and has been
employed for the past two years at
the 4th Service Command at Camp
Davis, N. C.
Cpl. Smith is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Smith of Micro. He is a
graduate of the Micro High School
and was on the local tobacco market
before entering the army. He has
spent the past twenty-three months
m England, Africa, Italy, and Sicily,
and was wounded while in' action
over there. After a 15-day furlough,
he will return to the Moore General
Hospital in Swannanoa for treatment.
