Our secret fears and misgivings are show ing conspicuously in our general attitudes towards our associates whether they are members of our family or our general public. Our personal reactions should be a matter of serious concern because we create around us an environment, pleas ant or unpleasant, according to the per sonality we develop. Despite the fact that the business of earning a living becomes more insecure, and consumes more and more of our time there must be included in our daily routine some time in which we engage in social living—the change of ideas, the making of friendships, the understanding of human relationships, the actual communion and fellowship of fellow beings, whether fam ily or friends. At the meeting in Kinston last year the State Federation gladly accepted the in vitation to hold the 1950 meeting in South ern Pines as guests of the Charlotte Haw kins Brown Chapter of Colored Women’s Clubs. Having the honor of entertaining the State Federation has given the clubs new and greater solidarity than was ever ex perienced before. A change from the bi monthly county meetings to monthly meetings helped; meetings have been well attended and much good work has been accomplished through the unified efforts of the club members. Meetings of local clubs have been kept up. Mrs. Edna B. Taylor, President of the Moore County Federation, has given her self wholly to the planning for the meet ing in May, notwithstanding other civic duties that made inroads on her time. Be ginning with the meeting in September at the Morrison Training School to the final meeting May 17 in the West Southern Pines High School, every effort is being put forth to make this meeting of the State Federation both enjoyable and pro gressive. Although the meetings are to be held (Continued on Page 4)
