Page 4 The Federation Journal Fall—1967 City Federated Clubs Of Asheville - Highlights YWCA Fall Program Three of the Federated Clubs of the City Federation, includ ing the City Federation, name ly, Square of Dames, M. M. & I. Club, and the Cooi>erative Sisters No. 2 participated in the program, “Little Miss YWCA Contest”, that was held on Sunday, September 24th at tiie South French Broad Ave., YWCA. Seven clubs entered contest ants, little girls, ages 5-7 years old. Little Miss Nitza Ellen Jones, sponsored by the Cling- man St. Friendship Club was crowned Little Miss YWCA, by the current Miss AsheviUe, Miss Linda Maney. Mrs. Ame lia Thompson is president of the Clingman St. Friendship Club. First runner-up was Lit tle Miss Carol Cunningham, who was sponsored by the City Federation, Mrs. A. L. Murphy is the president of the City Federation. Other federated clubs, sponsoring a contestant were: M. M. & I. Club, con testant Little Miss Wanda Les ter; Fh-esident, Mrs. Mamie Home and Square of Dames, Little Miss Donetta Giles, pres ident, Mrs. I*earl Romes. The Cooperative Sisters No. 2 did not sponsor a little girl but made a donation to the YWCA Building Fund. The president of Cooperative Sisters No. 2 is Mrs. Arinie M. Bolden. Other community clubs who vi^ in the contest for Little Miss YWCA were: F riendly Neighborhood, Contestant Lit tle Lon Dawn Steele, President, Mrs. Sadie Rogers; East End Community Club, contestant. Little Miss Theresa Lindsey, president, Mrs. Martha McGee. Each little girl was presented a beautiful brown doll and a YWCA membership for one year. Total receipts from the program was $1309.17. On the behalf of the YWCA, Mrs. Alsie Bovian, chairman of the project and Mrs. Jesse G. Ray, chair man of the Committee On Ad ministration, salute and thank the presidents and club memb ers for a beautiful job well done. Proceeds will go to the Building Fund. E.
