Linda Harrison is to be head majorette, succeeding Jo Carole BlcDaniel, who graduated. Edythe Bodenheimer also graduated. Graduating is bringing changes in the high school band too. No less than 17 bandsmen were lost by the diploma route. However, at least 40 of the 65 musicians counted on by the capable and pop ular director are experienced, so we should have another fine year. Hoping to develop a two-band system, Mr. Dave Walters will have approximately a dozen inexperienc ed members in an alternate unit. In this way he will be able to speed their instruction. Walters believes in exposing his musicians to as many good com positions as possible, and during a school year they’ll work to some extent on perhaps 35 or 40 marches. He realizes that the band would be more proficient in the playing of two or three marches, if it con centrated on these alone. However, he feels that his pupils should get a maximum of training and experi ence, and that the Only way to give them versatility is to work on a wide range of music. So far no one has figured out a way for a boy to run around end with a football, and play a French horn in the stands at the same time. There's nothing like a good band to add to the enjoyment of a ball game. We’ve got the band, the majorettes, the cheerleaders and the team. Keep your fingers cross ed for a wonderful season. Quite a few of our high school singers have contributed their time and talent to the success of the Christian Business 'Men’s Crusade that started last Saturday and ends Sunday. Our director of music, Mr. Don ald Smith, saw to it that we were contacted, and of course we were happy to take part in something that meant so much to the spiritual life of our community.
