Wednesday, December 24, 1958 THE NEW BERN MIRROR, NEW BERN, N. C. Page Fifteen Will your iiinall fry be happy with-;,the things that Santa Claus bri|(gs ^ght? As a parent, that is your ehief concern en this and every other Christmas eve. All of us, including Saint Nick himself-' are annually faced with the ^ Problem* ■ of the changing whims of children. Just when it seems for sure that your tot has definitely made up his or her mind about the toys desired, you learn to your dismay that now it’s something quite different. Naturally, this puts Santa Claus into a tizzy. He has to make his plans weeks and weeks in advance, and these last-minute changes are his biggest headache. Sometimes, it’s impossible to make other ar rangements,, on short notice. Then, on Christmas morning, the expensive items requested are apt to be ignored by your youngster, while he devotes virtually all of his attention to an inexpensive toy that was just put in for good meas ure. _ This perplexing state of affairs isn’t new. It’s been just the same in past generations, including your own childhood. However, in days of yore a child didn’t get dozens of new playthings throughout the year. Hence, anything that he got in his stocking was an exciting surprise. It’s ^ sad fact that we have giv en our moppets so much of every thing, that far too often boredom sets in. Dislodging this boredom, and getting your kid steamed up for Christmas is no easy undertak ing. Easiest to satisfy, as a rule, are the very young. They are less crit ical, in most instances, and less demanding than older children. This doesn’t always hold true, but we parents have no one but, our selves to blame if our child of tod dling age has already been thor oughly spoiled. Just keep your fingers crossed, sympathize with Santa Claus in his predicament, and hope for the best. The MiVror Advertising Pays! Spreading Gospel By Powerful Radio .
