Friday, May 15,1959 Teen Topics IN NEW BERN TODAY Music from the pens of great contemporary composers will fill the air at the New Bern High school auditorium Tuesday night. That’s the long-awaited evening for our annual Pop Concert, pre- sentccl by the high school’s a capel- la choir, boys glee club, and girls glee club, under the direction of Mr. Donald Smith. There will be many highlights, so many that we can’t possibly do Justice to them. The choir will sing “A. Good Day”, “Lovely To Look At”., “1 Won’t Dance”, “Smoke Gets In -ifour Eyes”, “Young and Fool ish”, “It's A Most Unusual Day” and “I Dream of You.” Kay Phil lips, Janeth Hill and Leroy Alli- good are soloists. Lollie Hawkins is accompanist, and Max Powell is featured on traps. The girls glee club will sing “The Year’s At the Spring”, “Wa ters Ripple and Flow”, “A Won derful Guy”, “Tenderly”, “Ten Min utes Ago”, “How High the Moon” and “Big Wide Wonderful World.” Soloists are Ernestine Riggs, Jan ice Shapou and Ronnie ClarL Ac companist is Eloise Stilley. The Bruins—a male octet—will sing “Ain’t It A Shame” and “I Don’t Know Why I Love You Like I Do.” There’ll be a fine girls octet too, singing “Blue Skies” and “Side By Side.” Music has been a bright spot at New Bern High as usual this year Mr. David Walters’ band concert on May 7 was a thrilling experience for all of us. The NBHS band and the Central Junior High school band both gave grand perform ances.
