If you Uv* in one of the 2.000
communitieB tbet have ngOlar
safety check pranams, the few
minutes it talm to run thiouh
the safety cfaedc lane may save
you, other motorists and pedes
trians from being injured.
Even though you may think
your car is in perfect operating
condition, chances are there’s
still something that could cause
an accident.
Last year, among the three
million vehicles checked in this
program, one out of five was
found to need safety service.
Safety check lanes are set up
at convenient locations to offer
you a free check of about 10
major items of your car.
A lot of work goes into setting
up the lanes and a lot of people
give their time and service so all
of us will have safe cars to drive.
Manning the lanes are me^an-
ics loaned froth automobile and
tire dealers and independent
garages and service stations.
According to Charles C. Freed,
chairman of the Inter-Industry
Highway Safety Committee, the
10 items most often checked on
each car are brakes, front lights,
rear lights, steering, tires, ex
haust system, glass, windshield
wipers, rear view mirror and
horn.
If you take advantage of this
free service, you will be Joining
millions of Americans in helping
mduce traffic accidents causra
by vehicles not in safe opeiatiDg
condition.

MEDITATION
Life is a gift, not permanent but
loaned. Not a moment should be
wasted. It should be used it
should be cherished. In each hour
there can be thrills, excitement,
enthusiasm, ambitions, plans,
dreams.
There will also be fears, hates,
problems, burdens, neartbreak and
even death. But, hidden within the
hour, there can be found the key
to joy and happiness tucked away
in a fleeting second.
You can find it by opening your
heart with compassion and love.
Spend it well, for moments captur
ed by timeless eternities. Waste
not God’s Greatest Gift, —Emmitt
L, Brinson.
