Cancelling stamps on an en velope bulging with dead flies' is gooey business. When you have to do it repeatedly, it isn’t exactly pleasant. Added to Jefferay’s worries is the fact that, innocently enough, he violated a postal regulation cov ering the dispatch of harmful mat ter through the mails. Actually, the volators were those who sent the bugs, but a lawyer would prob ably say that Bill was an accessory before the fact. Postmaster Ralph Stanley, in keeping with his duties, has writ ten Jefferay to enlighten him. “We do these things to guard against a repetition of the occurrence,’’ Ralph has ejfplained to us. It’s safe to say that there’ll be no repeat performance. For one thing. Bill is an honest, law-abiding citizen. But, most of all, he has discovered that getting mixed up with a mess of flies will make you a fit subject for the bug house. K. Powell DISTRIBUTOR ME 7-226S DADDY SAM- (Contlnued from Page 1) Francis kids about his three sons, and ruefully predicts that they’ll probably be picolo players in the school band. Yet, in his heart he believes that they are certain to carry on the Ferebee tradition in one oi; several sports. Although the pdople in Tennes see have made Jean and Fran feel right at home, they welcome the chance to return to New Bern each summer and replenish the tar on their heels. This summer he is working here for the State High way Commission. Jean frankly admits that as far as sports are concerned, she can take them or leave them. But, she adds, it makes a difference when she is interested in the team. Need less to say, she is on the sidelines rooting whenever a Cumberland High school team is playing. Like we mentioned at the out set, Daddy Sam would be proud of Francis if he could be among the living today. For all we know, he may be beaming with pride any way.
