The rangy Bruin flankman has faulty vision, and his success in catching passes is an indication of his quick reflexes. Snagging a foot ball on the run is tricky business at best, and it’s doubly difficult when your eyesight can’t compare with that possessed by other ath letes. Not only did the New Bern High school graduate do alright on the gridiron, but managed to hold his own in basketball too. Donald isn’t the first youngster to excej in sports under such circumstances. However, his case is worthy of special mention. Incidentally, there’s another New Bern angle to the All-Star game that has been overlooked in most quarters. Wilmington’s sensational passer. Leon Brogden Jr., is the son of the selfsame Leon Brogden who once played baseball for the New Bern Bears. It should be quite a thrill to the coach of the Wilmington Wildcats to have his own son hailed for set ting new North Carolina records for passes completed, the highest percentage completed, and total passing yardage gained. Leon, no doubt, was dreaming of such an eventuality the night that New Bern’s Preacher Parker—a freshman at the time—slaughtered his New Hanover lads with three quick touchdowns in the opening quarter of a tremendous upset. Now it’s Leon Jr. in the butcher’s role. GLE^isiGS — ; (Continued from Page 4) Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, (Reposes and says that he heard omas A. As a child he feels near to God, and is guided constantly by this spirit. He has an investigative mind- his curiosity helps him come upon the beauties of God’s handiwork. He enters onto new plateaus with courage, and displays tremendous ability, perserverance and most al ways is successful. He plays where even angels fear to trod. Why is it that as he grows older his burdens of livelihood rob him of his glorious gift, and he loses contact with this spirit? Could he tune in once more? I wonder. — Emmitt L. Brinson.
