Q—How can I remove wall paper easily? / A—^Wall paper can be removed easily if one will use a heaping tablespoon of saltpeter to a gallon of hot water and apply to the paper with a brush. A whitewash brush is best for this purpose. The water should be kept hot, and after a few applications the paper can be easily pulled off. Q—How can I remove cod liver oil stains from fabrics? Someone has described it as an alimentary canal with a loud voice at one end, and no responsibility at the other. Another description depicts a ba by as the morning caller, the noon day crawler and the midnight bawl- er. And, more than that, a native of all countries, who speaks the language of none. Sooner or later, of course, a ba by gets spoiled. The cynic says this happens because we can’t spank grandmothers. There’s a lot of truth in that ■ flippant remark, since New Bern’s grandmothers in variably pamper their grandchil dren far more than they did their own youngsters. Nothing will ever change this state of affairs. In the same cynical vein, it has been observed that mOkt folks could manage the wolf at the door, if the stork didn’t fly in the win dow. All of us will agree that ba bies are expensive, and that in truth the stork seems to be the on ly thing in all the world that dis- Quality Shoe Repairing at Reasonable Prices IDEAL Shoe Shop Joe Hatem, Prop. 903 Broad Street ME 7-5011 WOODROW MOORE'S Supplying Indoor Comfort With Heating and Air Conditioning Now located 318 First St. criminates in favor of the poor. Yet, those who have no children seem to have just as much trouble living within their income, and miss out on the pleasure of parent hood in the bargain. Besides, the average mother with kids running her crazy is much too occupied to pay much attention to the wolf camping on the doorstep. Rich or poor, babies are nice things to have in the household. In fact, one philosopher has said that marriage turns out to be a howling success only after a baby is born. This isn’t entirely true, since some of the happiest couples we know are childless. Through necessity, if nothing else, they are apt to be- come quite devoted to each other. Babies, if you ask us, defy'de scription. No two are completely alike, and that is in keeping with all of the other miracles in God’s marvelous Creation. >* AsIc ■*. * ar for Tom's Everywherg J. k.
