Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understand ing is infinite.”—^Psalm 47:4-5. Many trees are ideal for Christ mas trees. Pines, firs, spruces, ce dars and bare limbs of trees make good ones. K you get a tree without roots ahead of time,.stand in a tub of water with a cup of sugar in it until time for use. This will keep the needles from falling and help keep the color. Be careful in cutting trees that you don’t destroy others and start fires in the woods. Leave the ones that make the prettiest show for others to enjoy. See that all plants or shrubs get extra protection during winter. Top Ten Tunes In New Bern This Week 1. Binding up the scattered sheaves In the field that heard the voice Of Judea’s shepherd King, Still the gleaners may rejoice. Still the reapers shout and sing. For each mount and vale and plain Felt the touch of holier feet. Then the gleaners of the grain Heard, in voices full and sweet, “Peace on earth, good will to men,” Ring from angel lips afar. While, o’er every blade and glen. Broke the light of Bethlehem’s star. Star of hope to soul in night. Star of peace above our strife, Sturdy, where the gates of death Open to fields of endless life. Wanderer from the nightly throng Which the eastern heavens gem; Guided, by an angel’s song. To the babe of Bethlehem. Not Judea’s hills'^alone Have earth’s weary gleaners trod Not to heirs of David’s throne Is it given to “reign with God.” But where’er on His green earth. Heavenly faith and long are. Heavenly hope and life have birth, ’Neath the smile of Bethlehem’s star. In each lowly heart or home. By each lone-watched cradle-bed. Where we rest, or where we roam. Still its changeless light is shed. His mother, Isabelle, teaches a Sunday school class at the local Jewish synagogue, and Morris hap pens to be a member. Like his Dad, Morris is never at a loss for words, so when there’s a discussion or a question and answer period in the class he gets into the act but def initely. Recently the question came up as to who were the first man and woman on earth. Ther seemed to be some doubt in the minds of at least one little boy, so Isabelle turned to Morris to clarify things. “The first man and woman,” he proclaimed quite proudly, “was Adam and Evil.” His answer was n’t exactly accurate, but consider ing the trouble Adam got into with his mate it would seem that Evil instead of Eve might be an appro priate name at that. Other kids before Morris have gotten a bit mixed up when deal ing with Biblical situations. For example, we recall the little boy who drew a beautiful scene of Bethlehem’s manger. The setting was quite complete, and he was careful to include all the characters. There were Mary and Joseph and Jesus, along with the three wise men and the angels. However, added to these was a man quite fat who could not be identi fied by the teacher. “Who is this?” the teacher ask- We Put GOOD PLANTS In the Right Place DIXON BROS. NURSERY MAKING THE OUTDOORS MORE BEAUTIFUL ed, pointing to the fat man in the picture^ “Don’t you know who that it?” the moppet replied in amazement. “Why, that’s Round John Virgin!’.’ So you see, young Mr. Morris Vatz needn’t feel too badly just be cause he called the first woman Evil instead of Eve. As a matter of fact, he has probably already forgotten the incident. Giva Your Favorita Fumitura a Now Loasa on Lifo. FREE ESTIMAveS PICK-UP A DELIVERY Gray Upholstery Co.
