MIRROR MEDITATION Mankind has explored the far corners of our universe. He has conquered its material resources and exploited its tremendous possi bilities. Our world seems to have reached the ultimate of material ism, of conveniences and luxury living. Man would still be living in caves if it were not for the forces of discontent, curiosity and imag ination. We have progressed rapid ly and wonderfully in our material era. What lies ahead tor mankind is his most daring challenge. For he stands now at the dawn of a great mental age. He feels the tug of REWEAVING cigarette Burns — Moth Holei Cuts and Tears Mrs. W. E. The Supreme Intelligence has guided man’s advance well, and has properly timed this period for the human mind to come of age. This generation and those to fol low will produce many advances beyond the wildest dreams of man kind. God is now ready to express himself through the mind of man. For hidden within the depths of man’s mind, lie dormant the thoughts that will eventually abridge his understanding from the material to the spiritual. Can you imagine a world in which man has advanced in knowl edge and understanding to a level where all major differences are re duced to historical insignificance and regret. And that his advance of soul and spirit has elevated him to a oneness with Almighty God. If mankind does not seize the op portunity that stands daring him to explore the spiritual, the ad vance of materialism could very well take another course and sub merge those that remain, to the depths of stone age existence. Will man have a choice? Or will God force the advances of truth upon the human mind through the eternal progress of creative laws? I wonder. —Emmitt L. It wiU, to say the least, be a comprehensive display of fine artistry, and the fact that three New Bernians will be privileged to have entries at' Washington, plus the work of an other member of the'New Bern branch, is a great compliment to the artists in this area. Admittedly, talent is a God-given asset, but if it isn’t cultivated or remains ignored, it isn’t apt to blossom into accomplishment. These New Bern artists, largely through their own initiative, have brought recognition and credit to the entire community. What they have done is a chal lenge to all of us, and might well bring about a general awakening and an increased interest in art here.
