MEDITATION
They gazed into the heavens, and
there over Bethlehem appeared a
pulsating brilliance to destiny. A
star that guided great men and
shepherds to an humble stall. A
light that guided a child through
the unknownand unrecorded years
of his youth—that pointed the way
]to Judea and Galilee, Gethsemane
and Calvary.
On that road the man Jesus walk
ed with God, and there gave his
material being for the cause of ev
ery human life. It was here he be
came “King of Kings.” He did not
gain a throne by the sword. He left
no earthly wealth. Just an endow
ment or inherent right to all man
kind to find his soul.
Nearly a century passed after
the manger incident before a single
gospel was written. And in the cen
turies that followed many creeds

and dogmas were born. Yet the
only Creed that Jesus had were the
beatitudes. His only dogma the
golden rule. His only doctrine the
Kingdom of God.
Yet because of his birth, his life,
his death, the course of human his
tory was destined to change. Great
tyrants who ruled have long since
been forgotten. Empires born of
tyranny emerged and submerged.
The mighty I Roman Empire is but
a record of the past.
Yet the Great Star that shown
over a little town called Bethle
hem has caused it to rise to sacred
eminence. The manger was more
invincible than the mighty sword.
Over 20 centuries that have passed
there have been countless millions
that found their triumphs of im
mortality. And regardless of the
limitations of dogmas, or man made
law that binds the body, the human
is free, and millions upon millions
will turn their hearts and thoughts
to the nativity scene on Christmas
Eve.
How fortunate we are here in
America. A land of opportunity and
plenty and freedom. On this day of
days, let’s not feel soiTy for our
selves, our problems, our worries.
But turn our thoughts to others,
our hearts to God. Find renewed
meaning in our prayers for Peace
on Earth, good will toward men.
and a song on our lips. “0 little
town of Bethlehem, how still we see
thee lie, above the deep and dream
less sleep the silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the
everlasting light. The hopes and
fears of all the years are met in
thee tonight.”
Have a happy Christmas.

Christmas lights are everywhere
To bless the world again!
Haloed candles golden flames
At every windowpane^
Lamplight streaming cheerily
From welcoming doors flung widei-i
Firelight soft on little heads
That dream of Santa’s ride—i
Starshine drifting from the shy>—t
Lights that hoh and glow
As dancing lanterns mark the way
The merry carollers go^
O lovely Christmas lights that make.
The world a wondrous place,
Show us the way until we see
The glory of His face!
