On that road the man Jesus walk ed with God, and there gave his material being for the cause of ev ery human life. It was here he be came “King of Kings.” He did not gain a throne by the sword. He left no earthly wealth. Just an endow ment or inherent right to all man kind to find his soul. Nearly a century passed after the manger incident before a single gospel was written. Yet the only Creed that Jesus had were the beatitudes. His only dogma the golden rule. His only doctrine the Kingdom of God. Yet because of his birth, his life, his death, the course of human his tory was destined to change. Great tyrants who ruled have long since been forgotten. Empires born of tyranny emerged and submerged. The mighty I Roman Empire is but a record of the past. Yet the Great Star that shown over a little town called Bethle hem has caused it to rise to sacred eminence. The manger was more invincible than the mighty sword. Over 20 centuries that have passed there have been countless millions that found their triumphs of im mortality. And regardless of the limitations of dogmas, or man made law that binds the body, the human is free, and millions upon millions will turn their hearts and thoughts to the nativity scene on Christmas Eve. How fortunate we are here in America. A land of opportunity and plenty and freedom. On this day of days, let’s not feel soiTy for our selves, our problems, our worries. But turn our thoughts to others, our hearts to God. Find renewed meaning in our prayers for Peace on Earth, good will toward men. and a song on our lips. “0 little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie, above the deep and dream less sleep the silent stars go by; Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light.
