C- FANNIE CROSBY Fannie J. Crosby, being blind from childhood, had to depend en tirely upon someone to tell her the story of Christtpas. This was done so effectively one Christmas that late in life she could write among her many hymns; “Tell me the story o£, Jesus, write on my heart every word; Tell me the story most precious, sweetest that ever was heard. Tell how the an- r ■J ^OUR GREETINGS I TO OUR AAANY FRIENDS AND PATRONS.., Jack Hardy's Grocery 1018 George St. ME 7-4419 pgUEze, FOLKS USE Lots of CHRISTMAS seals ! r Help Fight TB t««y, Kiiip ijH firtUiuibH «« .^els, in chorus, sang as they wel- |>med His birth, ‘Glory to God ip the highest! Peace and good tid- iiigs to earth’.” iThe same Christmas story that ■w(as told to Fannie J. Crosby is the same, old, old story ever re freshing and inspiring because it’s tlje story of Jesus. Nineteen hun dred and fifty-nine years have Rhssed since the angel said to the shepherds, “Fear not: for, behold bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in me city of David, a Saviour, which ip Christ the Lord”. I All of the story seems to be pmmed up in this announcement, ^ey were not to be afraid be luse that day, in the city of Da vid, a Saviour was born which was Christ the Lord. With the coming of the Saviour, joy had replaced fear. For the first time in the his tory of man, all people would know joy; the Jew and the Greek, the band and the free. The joy of salvation would not longer be lock ed behind the door of the temple or within the narrow confines of one race of people. This is a beautiful story. One which will reassure us at this sea son of the presence of God in the world in the person of His Son, revealed to us by the power of the Holy Spirit. This may be realized in a Christmas carol, in a gift to a needy person, in the face of a child around the Christmas tree, or in fellowship with those who know and love this story. Charles E. Parker, pastor. Edward's Radiator Service Merry Christmas! What a happy greeting that is! And it can come true for everyone of us. A Mer ry Christmas does not depend up on.how many Christmas gifts one receives or even the good Christ mas cooking one may eat. Merry Christmas is an attitude. Is is a matter of the heart. On the first Christmas, when Jesus, the Savior, was born, the very heavens reverberated with joy as the angelic chorus sang, “Peace on earth, good will to men.” Like the angels, we humans want to show love and good will to men, as we honor Christ on His birthday. For, as men honor Christ their hearts are a little more ten der, a little more sensitive to the needs of other people, looking for opportunities to give rather than to get, seeking to show love and good will to everyone. We cannot sing like the angels but with all our hearts we can say “Merry Christmas!” And in doing so we can show love and good will toward other people. So, Merry Christmas to all; and may God bless you every one! Rev. J. W. Lineberger, Centenary Methodist Church Be merry all, be merry all, With holly dress the festive hall.
