Ui this life we hear of two kinds of people: One group is composed of those who have be lieved on Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and have given tlwir hearts to Him. The other group is composed of those who haven’t accepted Christ. Is there much difference between Christians and sinners? Do they do the same things, go the same places, and say the same things? What does it mean to be a Chris tian? When a person accepts Christ a change takes place within that will also affect his outward daily con duct. He becomes a new creature in Christ Jesus. Old things pass away and all things become new. He be gins to live in a new world. He doesn’t desire to do the things he once did—for he has found some thing better. When a person is born again— accepts Christ—he doesn’t desire to go to places he once did. He finds joy in serving the Lord. Also, when a person accepts Christ he doesn’t say the same things he once did. He won’t de sire to hear other people say them, either. When a person accepts Christ he is different. He condemns the things he once enjoyed. The scrip ture tells us to “Come out from among them and be ye separate and I will receive you, saith the Lord.” There is to be a separation. The Christian has a new nature and therefore is different. Yes, there is a big difference between the Christian and the sinner. Christ is the difference. Automobiles and Low Grades Are High School Companions By JOHN COREY Appalachian State Teachers College Should Junior own a car while in high school? Parents face a tough decision an swering this question. And it’s not one to be avoided. Junior’s almost certain to bring it to a head. His arguments can be convincing. They may go something like this: Used cars are inexpensive now adays. Machines that actually run sell for less than $100, not much more than a bic.vcle. Walking to school from his dis tant surburban home pains him. And he knows it’s even more pain ful for Mom and Dad to play chauf feur. Maintaining and caring for one’s own auto can be educational. It’s like taking an extra course in sci ence. A vehicle increases social pres, tige. Girls go for boys with cars A student without wheels feels like a nobody. What’s more, this is the “wheel age.” Who walks? That’s for squares. Junior seems to have a good case—except for one important thing: Good grades and cars don’t mix This view comes from Dr. Roy (Continued on Pago 5) Don't Forget Your Week-End Special PACKAGED TO GO Barbecue, Bread and Slaw for Two $1.00 Barbecue, Bread and Slaw for Four $2.00 SUPER SPECIAL FRIDAY AND SATURDAY Half Barbecue Chicken with all the trimmings to oat on the premises or take out (listen), just $1.00 Tho best in seafoods and regular dbinert served With Foleys Famous home cooked pies, fresh daily.
