Friday, February 16, 1962 THE NEW BERN MIRROR, NEW BERN, N. C. Page Seven MIRROR MEDITATION By EAAMITT L. BRINSON Each day now the battle of Communism within this country grows bigger and bigger. The real issues are very definitely “Com munism or God’’. Which will win? Which side shall you choose? There is no middle of the road. No waiting to make a choice. The communists have made an all out effort to use every means of de ceit to destroy all anti-communist movements. It is conceded by everyone that to combat this spreading menace of athiesm, the people of God must I make their stand. All religions regardless of man made contro versy among themselves must join hands to combat this instrument of satan. Power, motivated by religion and faith is stronger than that of any government, material value or money. It is the only real weapon for which communism has no de fense, nor can they destroy it. Our constitution with its guaran tees of Freedom also provides for the freedom of beliefs or philoso phy. It even protects certain as pects of the communist sympathy organizations. Constitutional government is a limited government. There is a strict separation of church and Don't Settle for Less than the Best. Have Your Motor and Chassis Steam Cleaned. Graham Fulcher's BLUE GABLE SERVICE STATION ek^ Hancock Straets state. Our government cannot uti lize the motivating power of re ligion without favoring a religion. Thus the role of government in the effective struggle against com munism is limited. Yet in each day’s news one sees the effect of communist directed dissension among patriotic Ameri cans who are trying to expose this menace. Religion is the only means of destroying atheism. Govern ment can not help in this area. Yet two prominent protestant ministers in California are taking a stand against Dr. Fred Swartz who was the organizer of a recent program “Hollywood’s answer to Communism”, a tremendously re vealing expose. These ministers are criticizing the participants, its sponsors and the mayors of those cities who endorsed it. They say: “there is nothing Christian about the Cru sade,” even though Dr. Swartz is a devout Christian and heads up the “Christian Anti-Communist Crusade.” Evidently there minis ters are unhappy because the church was not stressed or they were jealous of someone else mak ing a move. Without freedom as we enjoy it, all religion, including Christianity shall die. All the idio-syncrasies of personal differences -should be cast aside in this movement to stamp out atheism. The deadly disease of all religions. These ministers who are against the Crusade and every one of their followers, should hear the message from a very dedicated Christian minister, a Latvian refugee. Rev. Peter Knezha, who from first hand experience tells his life’s story of how treacherous the outcome will be from trusting, and going easy with the communists, especially in religion. Once they are in power, out go the churches, Bibles and reli gious literature. Their only re ligion is Communism. Their only philosophy is Communism. Their only God is Communism. Helping to protect their rights through any Religion, politics, government, or constitution, waiting for them to adhere to the golden rule is ab solutely fatal. This writer overheard via the Christian news Radio program this Sunday past, where one of our Representatives intends to intro duce a Bill in Congress to remove any church from tax exemption who promotes any anti-communist movement. He states they would be entering into, and meddling into politics. Thereby forfeiting their tax free privileges. Government can not blow hot and cold at the same time. Our Government should stick to the political dangers of communism and socialism. Using its Bureau cracies to lay down their barrage within the constitutional limits. At the same time Government should offer any guidance to any. religion that wishes to lay down its barrage against Atheism — the root of Communism. If our Government was blind enough at one time to ally itself with an atheistic government to destroy a common enemy, it should now have vision enough to ally with the various Religions to destroy the greatest enemy ever known to any self government of Top Ten Tunes In New Bern This Week 1. It appears to me that any effort to educate the American people to the dangers of Communism should be welcomed. No politics, religion, news media, or individual should, through egotism and jeal ousy, condemn it. The confusing issues of “Rightest” or “Leftist” should be left out of the issue. The real answer is; You are either “for” or “against” Commun ism. Nothing else matters at this time. It makes no difference what position one ' holds, whether in government or industry, politics or religion. To make any move, or remark that will help the spread of Communism, or do any thing to prevent the education of the American people as to its real purpose, its aim, its ruthless goal, its godless athistism, its de signed destruction of a free world — exposes one as a “pro-com munist” — no matter what reason concocted to hide behind. Luke 9:50 “Forbid him Not; for he that is not against us is for us.” Use this truth! either way— “For” or “against”. If can not be the middle of the road. This point was brought out by J. D. DeRamus, regional manager. Veterans Administration, Winston- Salem, because the step-up in en listments and draft calls has re sulted in many inquiries. Mr. DeRamus explained that the law provides that an otherwise eligible orphan who serves in the Armed Forces for a period pre ceding his 23rd birthday may still take advantage of the provisions of the War Orphans Education As sistance program within five years after his first release or discharge and prior to his 31st birthday.
