Page Two THE NEW BERN MIRROR, NEW BERN, N. C. Friday, August 31, 1962 TOT If you need help from an expert, in seeking information about this or that president of the United States, don’t head for the Nation’s Capital. All the data you could possibly want is obtainable from seven-year- old l,awrence Margolis, son of Ken and Shirley Lipman Margolis, who live at 1608 Rhem Avenue. Perhaps no other New Bern- ian, no matter how well read he or she may be, approaches his knowl edge in this respect MIRROR MEDITATION By EMMITT L. BRINSON Lawrence got started on this president business when he be came interested in a book belong ing to his brother Jeff, aged nine. After that there was no stopping him. Apparently, Lawrence has no favorite among the prejiidents. He likes them all. The two lads, following in the footsteps of their Uiother and fath er, are enthusiastic when it comes to wading through reams and reams of reading matter. Needless to say, it’s good reading matter. Jeff, a rapid reader, may not be as well versed on a particular sub ject as Lawrence, but he has stored up a wealth of knowledge in all directions. Want to know when president Coolidge was sworn into office? Don’t look it up, Lawrence has the answer ready and waiting. I am a man and nothing in man’s lot can be indifferent to me — Terence. As we review our part in space and time we are confronted with certain indisputable facts. We are locked within the laws of Creation and must travel the roads of growth and deterioration. Upon this highway of life we have a choice and can steer the span of existence of which we are endow ed. It is true that all of Creation and any creative thoughts we might have arises from desires of joy — love — enthusiasm and happiness. All the beauty of God’s handiwork or that of our own is truly an expression of soul. All the advance of mankind over the ages is the divine expression of a spiritually destined universe. If we steer our lives within the flow of these creative forces or stay in tune with it we advance along with the laws of “Growth.” We become a part of the countless number of creative forces that are designed to provide for our wel fare and happiness. We feel our relationship with God in all there is. We realize that in this stream it was intended for man in his normal existence — to be happy. The nature of the divine within man is ever present, and as long as we follow these laws our needs will be adequately provided for. Not only the physical, but the spir itual needs. We find we need but follow this crest of cre, otive intent to flower into a life of joy — of peace ■—• of happiness and dedi cation. I cannot believe that a creation of love and an expression of love provides for evil in man. Nature in itself is perfect, and man in his spiritual nature must bo per fect. lie must actually make an ef fort to remove himself from the beauty of his intended existence Tips From New Bern's Post Offico ’c*C>0| What’s Your Postal I. We find a Creative Power of er mat life Tii its form as we know it, might follow its plan of continuity Man was not intended to suffer, but in his misguided ignorance he leaves the flow of creation at will and traps himself like a fish out of water. He gets caught in the laws of deterioration and fol lows its path to destruction. In stinctively man realizes this. He also realizes there is something about himself, an intelligence, that elevates him or gives him domina tion over other forms and species of life. He must be, as has been said; “next to angels.” In his moment of silence and meditation he reaches out tor a greater nobility — a greater good — a higher realm of divine one ness. Even the crudest of degener ates, ceases to run from himself and in his loneliness — wonders. In finding this oneness, one taps the Power of the Creator. He dis covers within his inner being, a relationship waiting to be used. The paths of good opens in all avenues of needs — of wants or desires. We discover a source of logic and reason — a sense of balance — of knowledge already possessed — of courage —• of strength — a sense of destiny. Our lives open up to greater opportunities of joy — of talent for service to ourselves and others. It is here enthusiasm arises to steer our lives. I do not mean one can think himself rich, through greed, and it just happens. But one might sot for himself a goal in such a plan within the laws of right and hold to the thoughts, op- portuntities will open to him through the Power of good, and eventually he will reach his goal. Many of our industrial empires and fortunes were built this way. They are necessary to our way of MtU.^ ... ...w,.— No wealth created in any other manner will bring happiness. In the moments of silence it is realiz ed that life was such a waste. It is fortunate indeed that some along the way find a greater wealth in a changed, or different concept of values that money could never buy. The treasures in heaven are more important, and the wear and tear of the soul in pursuit of ma terial wealth is not worth the price some pay. Since we are a part of God, “For in Him we live, and move, and our being,” I sincerely believe if we prepared ourselves daily we can remain in the flow of creative “growth” until the day we are called to a greater life. I sincerely believe we allow our trials and er rors to weigh upon our minds un til we cast ourselves aside and follow the laws of deterioration. With our advance in medical science one need not argue how true it is that our bodies and our physical condition are controlled by our mental condition and emo tions. So with the Power of the Crea tor within ourselv^ we can rise above any situation — be it phy sical or material. The key word is “Believe” for it has been said; “It is done unto each one of us as he helipvoB” The sum total of a man is his thoughts. For his thinking projects his exeprience and expres sion of life. If we think success, we will suc ceed. If we think happiness and joy — it will be so. If we think health, it shall be ours. We must “believe” then we demonstrate. Definitely and deliberately we can call upon the Power of the Creator to mold the spiritual cause into actual human experience. Yes — this is the power of God found within ourselves. Happiness is constantly a part of Creation’s intent. Evil is some thing we invite upon ourselves. It is surely true—“LOVE CREATES.
