THE NEW BERN MIRROR, NEW BERN, N. C.
Page Three
Swigging milk appeals to most
babies, but Tommy and Diane
Best have learned the hard way
that their three month old son.
Tommy, Jr., wants no part of
it.
He crams baby food, especially
the vegetables, every time the
opportunity presents itself. As
a matter of fact, instead of a
bottle in the wee small hours,
he Insists on a dish of some
thing slightly more solid.
Diane says the doctor has ex
plained that little Tommy
probably got disgusted with
bottles a few weeks ago because
of a cold. “He couldn’t breathe
and nurse the bottle at the same
time,” Diane told us, “so he
steadfastly refused it.”
When last we checked, the
youngster was yielding to the
extent that he will drink orange
juice, but as far as he is con
cerned there is no need to milk
a cow for his benefit. Don’t
tell this to any of the cows you
happen to know. It might give
them an inferiority complex.
Obviously, the Best Infant isn’t
suffering overly much as a result
of his whim, He weighs seven
teen pounds, and is growing
larger by the minute. Tommy,
Sr., has nicknamed him “Horse”
for “Horse” Cartwright, who is
featured in the TV western--
“Bonanza.”
Big Tommy insists that his
son has looked exactly like Horse
ever since his birth on November
22. The child’s mother, and his
two slsters--Dennle and Susan--
aren’t too keen about the com
parison, but the nickname is apt
to stick long after “Bananza”
has run its course.
Oddly, perhaps, Dennle and
Susan were hoping the Stork would
bring a third girl to the Best
household, but they decided to
keep the little boy who showed
up. To say the least, that
simplified matters somewhat for
Tommy and Diane.

Does this policy cost very
