Stan The Man Is still around, despite the fact that he was already a seasoned member of the St. Louis Cardinals when his brother Ed broke Into or ganized ball with the Fayette ville Cubs In 1942, New Bern fans who follow the Big Leagues via press, radio and television have probably forgotten that Stan started out with the St. Louis team as a pitcher. He was a good one too, but moved Into the Cardi nal outfield when he Injured his arm. Mix potatoes, salt, celery, onion, radishes (or plmlento) and parsley. Add enough may onnaise to moisten. Place in the refrigerator to absorb some of the dressing and to chill. It was an awk ward way of batting, but he got his baseknocks and still does. Fortunately, the Cards didn’t try to change him. Because of his stance, or In spite of It, he has tied or set 42 National League records since 1938, and 15 Major League marks. Every time he gets an extra-base blow or adds another total base, he sets a new re cord.
