Weather in
June Cool
The weather wasn’t as hot
In June as it should have been,
but a few days—notably the
10th--turned out to be hotter
than usual. The month’s aver
age temperature was 74.9
degrees while the normal figure
for June should be 77.9.
The hottest day of the month
saw the mercury rise to 97
degrees which was two degrees
above the mark set in 1962
when the top figure was 95
on the 24th of June, The cool
est temperature recorded was
54 degrees on the 22nd as com-,
pared with 55 degrees on the*
10th of the month In 1962.

were flrnlshed by Frank B.
Boyette, who Is superintendent
and official weatherman at the
Coastal Plain Vegetable Re
search Station at Faison.
Rainfall measurement last
month wasn’t quite up to stan
dard either since only 3.96
Inches were recorded. Normal
precipitation for the month is
4.84 inches, Boyette reports.
Rainfall in June 1962 was 7.81
inches.'
