Select seed to fit your need. If your space Is over used, by being small, and used widely for service area, plant a sub stantial turf to stand the wear. Fertilize highly. See that your lawn Is free from diseases. Watch for algae, brown spot, leaf spot, snow mold and others. Care should be taken to kill all Insects. Ants, chinch bugs, sod webworms and white grubs are usually In most lawns. Many weeds may be killed during winter and spring months. Crab grass, chlckweed, toxtall, knotweed, plaintall, clover and dandelion can be very pesky. Wild onions make an ugly lawn. Do not plant grass seed deep. Put four pounds of seed to every 1,000 square feet of lawn. Top dress with one-eighth Inch of compost. Don’t ever cut grass closer than one and one-half Inches. Fall Is a good time to plant phlox decunata. This Is a hardy summer phlox that blooms from June until October. Many colors are available. Charles Curtis Is a sunset red; Jules Sandeaulsa deep rose-pink; Lillian Is a delicate pure pink; Mary Louise Is a large snow white and Miss Llngard Is a white one with a pink shading. Put out plenty of pansies. The super Swiss giants are ex cellent ones In a great variety of colors. The jumbo mixed Is an extra large variety with large foliage. The butterfly hy brids come In colors of butter flies, such as apricot, terra cotta and rosy orchid shades. You may purchase all of the above In separate colors. You may buy them In Blue Boy, Coronation gold, raspberry rose, Swiss berna and Swiss white. Plant plenty of English daisies. They come In mon- strosa, deep rose, double red, double mixed and double white. They make a garden. Plant your garden In great an ticipation, and wait to see the revelation of creation.
