Perhaps the son, because of merciful Incomprehension In keeping with his age, suffered a minimum anguish as he stood In the Capitol rotunda. Not so for little Carolyn, who adored her father. The tragic solemnity of the occasion wasn’t lost on her. Millions of tears must have been shed In a single Instant by television viewers from coast to coast when the child and her mother kneeled at the casket, and tenderly kissed the Stars and Stripes that covered It. One need not be a parent to share In a deep personal sense the heartbreak that was theirs.
