The Academy and the Baptist Church were among the other meeting places. On October 17, 1818, a meeting of the Presbyterians and their friends was held in the court house to decide upon the erection of a house of worship. In 1819, they bought from Ed ward Graham a lot on New Street for $1,200.00. On Wed nesday June 9, 1819, the corner stone was laid, the congregation having first met in the East Room of the Academy and pro ceeding to their lot on New Street to lay the stone and hold suitable services. Dedication: The house of Worship, which is the building we now occupy was dedicated on January 8, 1822, and it is this date that we have chosen for the basis of our Centennial. List of Pastors: Rev.
