to five authentic dishes that
can be easily prepared in the
American kitchen.
Some 150 individuals were
Involved in contributing rec
ipes including Mrs. John F.
Kennedy, Ambassador Adlai E.
Stevenson, and Patricia W.
Dean, wife of the British Am
bassador.
In preparation for the book,
each tentatively accepted rec
ipe was tested by a home eco
nomist and scrutinized for auth
enticity by representatives
from the countries of origin.
After four years of reviewing
750 recipes, the final 250 were
selected.
A feature of the book are the
five large-scale buffet menus
for 50 persons—the diplomatic
reception. African night, Latin
American fiesta, five continents
dinner and the Far East
buffet.

Ignltlon--Check spark plugs,
points, timing, condenser, gen
erator, regulator, battery and
fan belt.
Radiator—Check the hoses,
clamps, thermostat and anti
freeze solution.
Traction—Have your tires
Inspected for tread, your wheels
for proper alignment, your
brakes and clutch for proper
functioning. Mount snow tires
and carry chains for use under
severe conditions. A bag of sand
and a shovel kept in the truck is
good for emergency use.
Fuel--Clean and adjust the
choke for quick winter starts.
Check fuel pump and air clean
er.
Oil—Change to lighter winter
grade oil or use a year around
lubricant. Check the oil filter
and grease the chassis.
Vision—Replace windshield
wiper blades if the rubber is
dried out. Put anti-freeze solu
tion in the windshield washer-
fluid. Check all lights, including
turn signal Indicators, and keep
them clean. Be sure your heat-
er--defroster systems is func
tioning properly. Carry a com
bination scrapper-squeeze
brush for cleaning windshield
and windows.
