In all his pur suit to find the ultimate of truth, each advance brings him closer and closer to our Creator. He realizes more and more there is but one supreme mind, one will, one underlyli^ spirit, one Creator of all things. All major religions basically hold to this truui, yet some how along^ their travels they deviate from this valid fact. We find their differences radiate from human iiq;)erfections, hu man interpretation, human con cept. Yielding to the era, to the location, to a government and the times. Progress rejects, destroys and adds to man's be liefs. He adjusts in order to move freely, to fit in, to be long within a locality. Constant change is character istic of all religions. 1 have been calico task on this thought but let us review some of the record. No inquisition of cardi nals would today incarcerate for heresy a Galileo who declared the earth to go around the sun. No Cotton Mather today would contribute to the execution of 32 people accused of witchcraft as this Puritan Minister did in 1690. No clergy in this country would assert today, as some did 100 years ago, that slavery was ordained by God. No modern pre late would attack the surgeon for use of anesthetics as was done just 80 years ago, on the belief that to do so was med dling with the will of God. With e^ n;^ generation man , adds to and takes from the former ideals as laid down by man. Forever seeking beauty, glory, peace and understanding yet he never finds satisfaction in man’s iiperfect world. Theologians instead of creat ing conc^t and dogma to dodge or hold to certain Invalid ideals, would better have left unanswer able questions rest where they were. An unquerying believer who accepts a dogma and later comes upon a further positive assurance that it was a concq>t of an era, sometimes becomes lost and cannot rise above frus trations, Man’s greatest endow- For economy heat with oil maximum heat for your money / .tia. \ Hr i co'*' Ives Oil Ce. 506 Cyprass ME 7-2197 t' this divine law will eventually be eliminated. History proves this to be true. Will the advance of knowledge toward truth force religions of our era to revert to their origi nal intent? To find the spirit of God? Or wiU they continue to let man made' belies destroy their divine purpose on this earth? I wonder! CARAVAN .... He has a querying mind—to wonder—to probe, to search. His intuition, virtue and conscience reject that which does not allow freedom of soul. It is. here he can hold fast to his couse. It is here religion must return to its basic intent. There are more variations within certain beliefs, within any religion, than contain ed in the differences of the basic truths of all major religions. Man gains nothing in the sight of God by condemning his brother man for his pursuit of happiness. He sidetradts and slumbers in ignorance who sells personal belief or conc^t.
