I RICHARD BURTON I Cl AIRE BLOOM I OSKAR WERNER m THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD lows is approximately the same as a snow bird’s chance in JHades. Remarkably some of the tiny feathered creatures do survive, despite the unintentionally rough treatment they are sub jected to by children who fon dle them excessively. The oth ers, of course, are usually given appropriate funerals by their young owners. Personally, purple and green biddies have never seemed quite right to us, and that goes for red, orange and blue bid dies too. We still prefer the yellow and black ones that God designed. If the Good Lord, who orig inated colors along with bid dies and humans and every thing else, had so desired, there would have been Juvenile chick ens and adult chickens to match every hue and shade of the rain bow. For reasons satisfactory to Him, He chose to be conser vative In assigning colors to the chirping miracles that are hatched from hen eggs. After thinking the matter over, we’re In no mood to try to alter His handiwork. But getting back to the par ticular biddies at your house, It will take some doing to keep them alive beyond Oils first dangerous week. If the neigh bor’s cat (or maybe dog) doesn’t bring their existence to an abrupt half, lack of water, food and ventilation can condemn them to a sad fate. Don’t for goodness sake, count on your moppet to give them proper care. What every parent should expect, when pets are procured, Is full respon sibility for their welfare. All children love pets, and should have them. Likewise, all children, almost without ex ception, neglect them. Mom and Pop, you’ve got yourself Into the poultry business, but don’t count on Junior as a partner. Real Estate Transfers Builders And Finance, In corporated, to J.
