that shall say, Praise the Lord

Hydrangea are really pretty
now. They are so easy to grow,
and full of suprlses. You may
plant a beautiful pink one, and
It will become a beautiful
blue one. The soil changes their
color.
Pee Gee hydrangea Is a love
ly one as a fresh flower, and
makes a lovely arrangement
when dried. The Oak Leal hy
drangea Is a good foundaUon
planting, and the flower Is very
pretty. It Is so old fashlcmed.
Everyone enjoys the flower
that reminds them of child
hood.
Even thouidi summer Is just
getting underway, the seed cata
logues will soon be coming In.
The magazines are carrying
many bargains In day lilies
and Iris. So while It Is warm.
Sure, this world Is full of trou

I ain't said It ain't.
Lord, I've had enou§^ and dou

Reason for complaint;
Rain and storm have come to
fret me.
Skies are often gray;
Thorns and bramble have beset
me
On the road—but say,
Ain't It fine today?

Thinking of the past?
Each must have his tribula

Water with his wine;
Life, It ain't no celebraUon,
Trouble?—I've had mine—
But today Is fine I
It's today that I am livin'.
Not a month ago.

As time wills It so.
Yesterday a cloud of sorrow
Fell across the way;
It may rain again tomorrow.
It may rain—but say.
Ain't It fine todasr?

the dark hour of adversity.—

For our Buds and Blossoms
poem, we offer these cheerful
lines penned by Douedas
Malloch.
Magnolias and the South go
together like bacon and eggs,
grits and red gravy, or 'possum
and sweet potatoes. This beau
tiful plant specimen may be
found in saig and story, ex
emplifying some of the finer
traditions of the Southland.
Many a Southern Belle has
yielded to the proposals of
her Galahad In the shade of a
magnolia tree.
The magnolia was named for
Pierre Magnol who was direc

Of the species adapted to
our southern gardens, the Bull
Bay (M. grandlflora) Is prob
ably the most widely planted of
all the magnolias. Native to the
southern United States and the
state flower of both Mississi
ppi and Louisiana, it can be
planted as far north as New
York. The seven-to-nine-inch
flowers appear In late May. The
foUage Is thick, dark and leath
ery and the leaves are used by
florists In flower arrange
ments.
There are over 60 varieties
of the southern magnolia. One
of these, Glorlosa, is valued
for its extremely large flow
ers, sometimes as wide as 16
Inches. This variety is used
extensively in landscaping,
