Friday, October 14, 1966 THE NEW BERN MIRROR, NEW BERN. N. C. MIRROR MEDITATION By EMMITT L. BRINSON I am sincerely convinced that when this universe was set In motion, the Supreme Intelli gence also set up a continue! y of laws. Not only patterns of Individualism, but, a plan In which mankind as a whole shall follow. These laws pertaining to In dividualism are so exacting In Its evolvement, man has come to feel It Is the natural thing that will happen. Plant a seed of corn, and corn will grow. Thus the basic designs of which all of Creation is set, the count less invisible intelligent work ings of organisms which man can not change has come to be called the; “Nature of things" or “Nature". All patterns of life and mat ter will follow Its design and reach Its goal when In tls nat ural setting, its habitat, Its place, Us climate, and most of all—“ITS PURPOSE". A fish can not live out of water—nor can anything continue to exist, away from its natural laws. All of nature Is so locked within Us pattern and purpose that man himself, with all his knowledge. Is but an observer. Each time he finds a new use for energy or matter he has but come upon or looked Into “Nature at work," No matter what man might try to do, he will never change the natural order of things. Ho might. In all his effort upset a small part, or Individual thing. Like grafting a limb or cross a breed, but In Its continuity of existence, It will fall In line, or revert to Us natural pat tern. Therefore, man would have to practically move heaven and earth--to keep constantly at his effort to steer, to attempt this change—But Never could he make It a permanent thing. This constant flow of Creation will not be changed and anything, any person, any nation that sets Its individual Ideals against the flow of Creation, or the natural designs of life. Is headed for defeat. Since all of existance Is set to pattern from the smallest to the greatest; since the small est particle of matter and life; the atom, the DNA's, to the countless billions of stars in infinite space must follow a predetermined plan, so must mankind as a whole have a purpose. Not only Individual, but universal. The Nature of all things Page Seven Masonic Feature Think of all the things you’d like to do—hut can’t right now. While the Invis ible natural order of man’s bi ological design continues to follow Us set pattern, the only Improvement has been his mind—and along with it—his lot. Therefore, the natural pur pose of mankind as a whole must have a long range plan and extends Into the eternal. Mind, thought and aware ness are not material. In It self it is spiritual. It Is not caught up in the basic designs of continuity. It Is free from all else. It Is a part of the uni versal mind itself; a part ofthe Creator. It Is ttot part which uses this earthly house to ex press Itself. It Is a part of the creative power and mind that >hall never dle—It Is eternall While Man’s body might be shackled with chain and with man-made laws, his mind Is free, and can never be bound. CHERRY • Home Service Representative Carolina Power and Light Co. with the change of the season many changes take place within the household. One major change is the return of the chil dren to tlie classroom. School times bring about many respon sibilities for the homemaker. One of the most Important tasks for the homemaker is to provide a suitable study area for the children. The study area need not be large In space; however. It should be quiet, pleasant and It must have good light. The desk or table used for study should be a comfortable height for the child and cer tainly the chair should be com fortable. A light colored blot ter on the study desk Is a must and has a two fold purpose; first. It prevents glare, cuts down on contrast of light and dark areas, so pupil’s eye doesn’t have to adjust to great contrasts, and also protects the top of the desk. You will notice that I said a light colored blot ter, light grey, beige or any pastel tint is an excellent choice. There should be general light in the background of the study area and specific light at the desk. A wise choice for the spe cific light at the desk is; use of a pair of wall lamps with 100 watt bulbs each. The lamps must have diffuser heads with light colored shades and should be placed 30 Inches apart, 15 Inches from desk top and be 17 inches from desk edge. If desk Is more than two feet wide select serving arm lamps. Another responsibility lor Mrs. Homemaker is the enter taining for the various holidays as they appear on the calender.
