the East Carolina University
Pirates. Money talks, and the
financial success of the first
State-ECU tilt caused a raising
of eyebrows in Durham, Chapel
Hill, and Winston-Salem.
From the standpoint of
victories, the Pirates have had
a miserable first year under
Coach Mike McGhee. However
Mike, a former Duke All-
American and later a
dependable pro lineman, knows
what it takes to win. His
recniiting program is expected
to lift the club from its present
low level.
On the local scene. Coach
Roger Thrift’s NBHS Bears are
ambling to Wilmington tonight
for a battle with New Hanover.
