When your lilies are over crowded, divide them after the foliage is dead. Order or buy lilies to be planted at the season of the year they are to be planted. As in all things, timing is important. Always be sure to keep camellias and asters well watered before blooming season. Dig dahlias, glads and other summer bulbs before the ground freezes. If you don’t grow delphiniums well, trying using well-weathered coal ashes. Use sulphur to keep down mildew. Disbud camellias to encourage better color and size. Don’t spoil camellias by pamering them, as they are a forest loving shrub that appreciates only its natural habitation. If you plan to gather foliage from the woods for your Christmas decorating, don’t gather more than you need and don’t damage surrounding foliage. And whatever you do, if you’re smoking be careful not to start a fire.
