The following shrubs are good for a sloping hill or shady spots; Indian currant, barberry, coralberry, honeysuckles, truehedge column-berry, lodense privet, spreading catoneaster abelia and dwarf privet. Plant the following for hedges: Pekin catoneaster, golden vicary or chartreuse shrub, cranberry, lavender- cotton, photinia, cherry laurel, English laurel, arborvitae, yew, dwarf artic willow, dwarf privet, and box or buxus. Shrubs are essential to the beautification of a home. You grow them for flowers or berries, or just foliage. Although the arrival of autumn in our section is some time away, there have been a number of days during August that carried a hint of fall.
