Higih winds caused extensive dsniage in the Vanceboro area last week. Mr. Kay
SteWart watched as the wind ripped sheets of tin from the roof of the garage where he
worked for over 50 years. Damage was estimated at over $200.

Aviation
Award
WASHINGTON, N. C. — Weyerhaeuser Company
recently received three aviation safety awards. The
National Business Aircraft Association elected to recognize
the company with an award for having flown over 11
million consecutive aircraft miles without accident
involving damage to property or injury to persons. This
record included mileage flown by both airplanes and
helicopters.

i«cord, the l^AA chose to present the Weyerhaeuser^
Company maintenance personnel with an additional safety
award.
In addition to the two awards by the National Business
Aircraft Association, the Helicopter Association of
America gave recognition to the company’s outstanding
safety record in flying approximately 30,000 hours in
helicopters without accident.
Receiving the awards for the key role the Washington,
N. C. base contributed to this outstanding achieveinient

& Fertilizer Company arrived at work last Friday to find
the elevator leg which carries gp'ain to the tank, leaning
due to a broken guy line support caused by heavy winds.
Manager William Haddock estimated the damage at over
$10,000.
