The Bears scored twice in the second quarter following long runs, sending the Eagles to the halftime huddle trailing 14-0. In the second half, the Eagle defense came back to life. New Bern’s only second half score came on a pass interception. Eagle Coach Clay Jordan praised his defense for their play in the second half. “New Bern was stronger than we were,” Jordan commented after the game, “They had a lot more people lifting weights.” Jordan explained that the Eagles injury situ ation is becoming critical. Terry Jenkins aggravated an old injury and is suffer ing from torn ligaments. He will be out of the lineup for at least two weeks. James Roach, who joins Jenkins in the Eagle backfield, is out indefinitely with a shoulder separation. “We’re, of course, going to have to make some changes, however, I feel we can still be competitive,” Jordan indicated. The Eagles return to the friendly confines of Eagle Stadium tomorrow night when they take on the Trojans of Jones Senior High School. Jones Senior is coached by Joe Nobles, who has seen much success during his tenure at the 2-A school. Eagle Quarterback A1 War- mack in action.
