Jones Senior opened the scoring with a sixty yard scamper for a touchdown in the first quarter. The Eagles responded about midway in the second quar ter when A1 Warmack plunged in from the one. Both teams failed their ex tra point tries leaving a 6-6 halftime deadlock. Just be fore the half ended War- mack completed a twenty- five yard pass to Cliff Skin ner putting the Eagles on the two yard line. The Trojan defense stiffened throwing the Eagle offense for a loss as the half ended. Late in the third quarter, Jones Senior scored what turned out to be the win ning touchdown on a five yard halfback option pass. The extra points try succe eded putting the Eagles on the short end of a 14-6 score. According to Assis tant Coach ,_Dpq Hughes, the Eagles'simply failed.to cash in on the many scoring opportunities that were available. "We moved the ball very easily," Hughes commented, “until we got within scoring distance; then we seemed to slow down.” Hughes added that he thought the team was enthusiastic and came ready to play, however, they couldn’t make the big plays when needed. Sorely missed in the Eagle lineup was Terry Jenkins, thought by many to be a certain All-Confe rence pick. Jenkins suffered torn ligaments last week against New Bern, but is expected to see limited ac tion against Pamlico tomor row night. Fumbles also hurt the Eagles’ momen tum. Twice when the Eagles were moving the ball well, a fumble stopped the attack. The Eagles take on the Pamlico Hurricanes this Friday night in Eagle Sta dium. Pamlico this year has been very impressive. Against perrenial 3-A power- Havelock, the 2-A team lost by a modest 6-0.
