Rou tine business was transac ted with Mrs. Livingston Jones performing the sec retarial and treasurer duties. Members were asked to contribute items to the yard sale that will be held Saturday sponsored by the Cherubs Youth Group. The program "The Angel of the Lord Visits a Prison er” was presented by Mrs. Richard Dunn, Mrs. Jimmy Jones and Mrs. Whitford. The remarkable faith of Peter was discussed. The group joined hands for the benediction while Mrs. Harvey Whitford gave the closing prayer. There were 11 members present. Holly Hill Bazaar, Nov. 4 New Haven Youth Sunday New Haven Free Will Baptist Church of Cayton will be having youth Sun day November 5. The young people of the church will be in charge of the Sunday School classes, singing and the morning worship service. The groups that will be participating are the Cherubs, The Ambassadors for Christ and The Teen agers. Lewis Ipock, Jr., past president of the Youth For Christ Rally, will be our speaker at the morning worship service. Dinner will be served to honor the young people immediately following wor ship service. Everyone is invited. Jasper News... New Column begins.. .Page 4 9 New Column begins.. .Page 8 Gini Ingram visits NewBem New Bern, N.C.-Mrs. Gini Ingram, wife of Democratic Senate candidate John Ingram, was guest of honor at a reception given in New Bern. Mrs. Ingram" commented that Ingram has promised to work toward putting the insurance in dustry under anti-trust legislation and to work toward a National Health Service. Mrs. Ingram was joined by two of her four children, Gini Linn and BB who are both students at East Carolina University. The chairman of the Ingram campaign in Craven County is A1 Wellons. FF A places third Barton Griffin - John Deere Co. loaned a tractor to West Craven Jr. High school to practice safe driving and operation. A contest was held Saturday at the Morehead City Shopping Center in volving West Carteret, Pamlico and West Craven High Schools and West Craven Jr. High. Tim Wetherington, FFA treasurer, placed 3rd in the contest involving 10 par ticipants. Photo by Timmy Weatherington. Holly Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church Woman’s Auxiliary will hold its third annual bazaar on Saturday, November 4th at the Vanceboro Volunteer Fire Department. The Bazaar will open at 10 a.m. with delicious barbecue chicken, potatoes and slaw being served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for only $2.00 per plate. The bazaar will include a Bake Shop, Old Country Store, Christmas Corner and many other crafts. The Bake Shop will include many home baked cookies and cakes which are easily frozen for Thanksgiving or Christmas. The Old Country Store will house canned goods as well as sweet potatoes, books, patterns and many other items. In the Christmas Corner there will be many decora tive items such as tree ornaments, aprons, snow babies, etc. Many other useful items will be available such as pot holders, dried flowers as well as dry flower arrange ments, bun bun warmers! match box holders, kleenex covers, coasters, etc. Tickets for the dinner are now on sale. You may purchase them from any lady of the organization. Please feel free to call on any of the Holly Hill women about bringing ad vance tickets to anyone who desires them. Epworth congregation gathers to dedicate new memorial steeple. Epworth dedicates steeple Epworth United Metho dist Church dedicated its memorial steeple at their annual Homecoming, on Sunday, October 15. Approximately 175 people were on hand for the special occasion. A plaque bearing the following inscription was presented: This steeple and its supporting structure are given in honor and in memory of all persons who have served God at Epworth. As it reaches skyward with grace and beauty, may all who follow reach beyond themselves in service of God, as those who came before. Rev. Steve Hickle is pastor of the church. WITCH WARNS STUDENTS-Good Witch Jerry Worthman warned the students at Vanceboro Elementary and Farm Life EHementary Schools to be sure and brush their teeth after eating candy during the Halloween season. Jerry, Dental Hygenist with the Craven County Department of Health, explained that her visits are designed to cause the children to be conscious of dental care during Halloween. Home Extension Meets The Farm Life Home Ex tension Club met Tuesday October 24 at the home of Mrs. R.L. Cannon, Jr. with nine members present. Mrs. Vivian Taylor, pres ident, opened the meeting and a devotion on "Joy” was given by Mrs. Cannon. Mrs. J.L. Peterson gave the program “Energy Saving Decorating”. Dues were collected for registration for next year. The next meeting will be Nov. 8th at the Episcopal Parish House. This will be an area meeting of the Home Extension Clubs of the Vanceboro area.
