Mrs. Rosa Kirkman is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Alma Gaskin and her son, Clifton Kirkman in Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Lola Mae Foy visi ted Mrs. Mary Lancaster and Mrs. Clemie Gardner at the Guardian Care Rest Home in New Bern Wednesday afternoon. Hello! How has 1979 been for you so far? The big ques tion at school this week was “What did you get for Christmas?” It was our first week back at school after the holidays. I don’t think anyone was ready to go back to school. The basket ball teams proved last Thursday against the Woodington Raiders that Christmas changed them for the better. According to Coach Perry, the seventh and eighth grade boys passed poorly and made some errors in their fast break during the first half. They managed to pull to gether and win going away, 53-26. Wayne Becton was high scorer with 14 points. Clifton Blount and Jeff Meadows had eight each. In the girls game. Coach Rus sell praised his team for its great team effort especially on defense in beating Woodington 57-31. It was an easy win and everyone saw action. Eunice Hargett scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats and drew much praise from Coach Russell who called it her best game of the season this far. Da- phene Dixon and Arnita Taylor finished up with 6 points each. Jackie Whitfield and Nor man Becton led the team with 16 points each. Becton led the team in rebounds. Last Friday night, the WCJH gymnastics team gave a show entitled “All in a Days’ Cleaning” featuring all the team members. Money raised will be used to purchase equipment. The Beta Club met last Friday. Plans for the Beta Club Induction were dis cusses. The induction will be held Friday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. The president of the Student Council will make an introductory speech. The Student Coun cil members will be announ ced following the induction. The staff of the radio show is really excited about their first presentation. The planning committee met and worked out the format. The show was recorded last Monday. A school skating party was held last Monday night. Students who sold fifteen or more candles were admitted free or were given the $2.00 admission price.
