Hello!
How has 1979 been for
you so far? The big ques
tion at school this week
was “What did you get for
Christmas?” It was our first
week back at school after
the holidays. I don’t think
anyone was ready to go
back to school. The basket
ball teams proved last
Thursday against the
Woodington Raiders that
Christmas changed them
for the better. According to
Coach Perry, the seventh
and eighth grade boys
passed poorly and made
some errors in their fast
break during the first half.
They managed to pull to
gether and win going away,
53-26. Wayne Becton was
high scorer with 14 points.
Clifton Blount and Jeff
Meadows had eight each. In
the girls game. Coach Rus
sell praised his team for its
great team effort especially
on defense in beating
Woodington 57-31. It was
an easy win and everyone
saw action. Eunice Hargett
scored 12 points to lead the
Wildcats and drew much
praise from Coach Russell
who called it her best game
of the season this far. Da-
phene Dixon and Arnita
Taylor finished up with 6
points each. The ninth
grade boys were in control

ton. According to Coach
Perry', the Wildcats were
threatened in the third
quarter when the visitors
closed the gap to six. A
surge by the Wildcats put
the game out of reach.
Jackie Whitfield and Nor
man Becton led the team
with 16 points each. Becton
led the team in rebounds.
