Ladies hold shower
Dear Rick,
I want to thank you for sending me a copy of your
March 22nd issue of the West Craven Highlights.
The article about my father, Hervey C. Ipock’s 92 nd
birthday was enjoyed.by pie, my children, and
grandchildren. I found muoi pleasure in the other
items in your paper, especially the Jasper News
written by Fannie Quimby. I graduated from Jasper
High School in 1929. You know there comes a time
in everyone’s life after you have raised your family,
put your working years behind you (in my case,
retired and widowed), you have more time to sit and
think about the past, your childhood, school days
and old friends. You wonder what’s happened, how
life has treated them. In your paper I recognized
quite a few familiar names and it gave me quite a
thrill.
I came to Baltimore in 1930. Although I have been
on visits often, the times were of such short durations
that they were spent with my immediate family.
Reading your paper has inspired me. I am
enclosing my subscription for the Highlights. What
better way to get news from home?
In appreciation,
(signed) Eva Ipock Miller

Dear Libby
Dear Libby:
I’d like to sound off on a
subject that really bugs me.
Respecting parents. It
makes my skin crawl and I
also get hot under the col
lar to observe the way
children and even grown
ups treat their parents. It
is so hurtful to know you’ve
been the best parent you
can be and all you get from
your children is their “give
me’’ and most of the time
without a thank you or any
signs of appreciation.
For everyone who reads
this if your parents are still
living and if you do love
and appreciate them tell
and show them every
chance you get. It will be
too late when you stand
over their coffin because
they won’t hear you. So
lets all shape up and give
our parents the respect
that’s due them. Been There
Dear Been There:
I agree with you. Now is
the time.
