May 1st is the last day
for sign up as a charter
member in the Vanceboro
Area Tennis Association.
The association will
sponsor many activities
this summer for members.
One activity planned for
the summer is the
summer-long Tennis
Ladder climaxed by a
tournament at the end of
the summer. The Tennis
Ladder begins May 1.
This year the ladder will
contain a Men’s and a
Ladies’ division. In each
division there will be an
“A” and a “B” list. “A” is
for the person who plays a
very competitive game
while the “B” list is
composed of persons in
any age group who just
like tennis for the
recreation and exercise it
gives. A person partici
pating in the ladder may
challenge someone above
him. Matches are sched
uled by the participants.
You play at your
convenience. If a person
should defeat a person
above him on the ladder,
the winner advances to
the loser’s spot while the
loser drops down one
knotch. During the
summer, the association
will have a cookout and
possibly a couple of
tournaments.
